Matt Wile hit a 59 yard field goal in practice. When asked if he would try for a field goal in a game at that distance Hoke says "Yeah...Yup"

Anyone buying this. I doubt we would see a game field goal outside of 35 yards. IMO!

Obviously it depends on the circumstances. If there was 3 secs left in the game or half and we were down by 3 or less on the 42, I think it would be a possibility. Or if we were up huge, it could be used as a measuring stick. If it's a close game with 7 mins or more to go, I don't think it happens.

/ / / / / If BH says it, I'm buying it. Seriously. Poor me a big cup of Kool Aid.

As has been said, it all depends on the circumstances. If there's nothing to lose by trying it, we'll see it. If they're at the 35 with 5 seconds left in the half, they'll probably try it. If it's a 21 point game with 5 minutes to go in the 4th, they may try it. If it's a close game and they're looking at 4th and 5 or less, they pooch punt if they're leading and go for it if they're down, no FG.

Plenty of kickers have the leg to hit from that distance in practice. Most of them, especially young ones, don't have the mental makeup to do it in front of 109k.
