Max Scherzer No hitter 6-20-15

Was one strike away from a perfect game against Pittsburgh today and then batter leaned into a pitch and got hit, hitter could have likely gotten out of the way...

Still got the no hitter one batter later

Wow. So his last 2 starts are this....

18 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk, 26 k's. Unfuckinreal.

Just saw the replay of Tabata getting hit. That was utter bullshit. He should be absolutely ashamed he did that.

I've seen that rule enforced in little league but never in the majors. IMO the rule should be enforced once in a damn while. You're supposed to make an effort to get out of the way..when was the last time anyone has ever seen that actually enforced in MLB?

It's good to hear he was so strong after coming off the DL after having been on it for so long.

So the Tigers beat the Yankees today?

They're locked in a battle for that second wild card spot.

Sorry, I like Max as much as the next guy....but that pitch was a foot inside, and clipped Tabata on the elbow guard, I don't see how anyone can call that stepping in to a pitch. He didn't lean in other then his pre-swing load up, which every hitter in baseball does.

But regardless, Max is on fire lately.

He drops his elbow straight down to make contact with the ball. He's not trying to get out of the way at all. If he was he'd be flinching backwards. That's the normal reaction when a ball comes at you inside....not to drop your elbow down and stare at the ump to see if he saw it hit you. I think he absolutely did it on purpose.

I didn't think he made an effort to get out of the way, a hitter is supposed to make an effort to avoid being hit...it's never enforced

He could have easily gotten out of the way but he chose not to. The unwritten rules of the game say he should have but it was his choice. No problem IMO. If it were me...I would have made the effort to not get hit.

Max's last 2 starts he's given up 1 hit(1-55)

Max's last 2 starts he HAS 2 hits(2-6)

Max has been great for Washington. Everything they could have hope for and more, I'd bet. Good for Max, he seemed to be one of the good guys in the game and is someone I'm still a fan of.

We are stuck with Verlander :/
Washington gets the great Max :/

eventually, Washington will get stuck with a "bad Max". However, at least they are getting some good with his current contract. JV is on the first year of his HUGE deal and the Tigers are getting a AAA pitcher.
