Mitch McGary picks Michigan!!!

Wow...did not think it would come true....biggest recruit since???????

Wow can we hit fast forward. I really hope Hardaway stays another year. It will be our best team since the fab 5. Deep and talented as hell.

Well, that's debateable. Lavall Blanchard was considered by some sources as the #1 recruit in the country in '99, i heard on tv anyway, but the program was in disarray and he would not be in a good position to succeed. If you are looking for a big get that will be during a time where Michigan is going to be relevant, I think you have to go back to when the fab 5 committed.

I really think we are in a position team wise where McGary can come in a be a huge addition. With experienced players around him who have been in the system for a few years all the pressure will not be on him.

Since I guess Chris Webber, right...?

Or maybe Juwon Howard. As I recall from Jalen Rose's ESPN documentary, Howard was influential in getting the other four to commit.

Of the Fab Five, though Howard was the straw that stirred the drink, C-Webb was #1 overall, with Jalen somewhere near the Top 5 along with Juwan and Jimmy at #12, I believe. Ray Jackson was something like #65 so it was 'four of the top 12 and five of the top 65'

Absolutely. I hate basketball but I find myself rooting, and watching, Michigan when they've been good.

I might qualify. I can admit it. I was one of the very few Michigan fans that saw them play NC State here in NC a few year ago, and I went (all decked out in Michigan gear) to see them vs. Duke, but for the most part, I'm not really paying attention.

Well, ok, so maybe it is in reference to people here, but I was alluding to the annoying bandwagon fan who acts like they've been with the program every step of the way, when really they bailed the second Brian Ellerbe was hired (and maybe it's more annoying because that was probably a smart move!).

I was going to feel like I wasted a lot of time on all these McGary updates if that son of a bitch bailed on UM. lol

Now I only feel like it was a little wasted time.

Took me until post 12 to realize he's a basketball player and not football.

Well, in post 8, it is mentioned that we beat out Duke for him...

I saw that and thought why would he be thinking about Duke football.

I had trouble being able to follow the team for a few yrs there until the B10 Network came along b/c I don't live in the region, but I've followed more the last few years. That said, I'm not a 'basketball fan,' I'm a Michigan fan and won't pretend I have been a follower all along. Still exciting ... And hockey too!

BTN is a beautiful thing outside of their football broadcasts.
