Dawson has missed 2 open layups. Consistently no touch around the rim especially on a finish. This is going to be another no scoring foul fest.

Another blown bucket under the basket by Dawson.

Up by 1 but 4 turnovers. Maryland plays stodgy defensive but 3 of those were somewhat unforced.

When was the last time we had a player score 21 points in a half? Trimble is a freshman too. This sucks. You can see how much talent we lack this year.

This team is not what we are used to watching. Spoiled for too many years.

3-12 at the stripe. Small fast teams normally hit free throws.

Does anybody practice free throws anymore? Or even coach then on mechanics? You'd think with having a week off, they'd mess around with shooting them in their free time... I guess not.

I wonder if sbee is not making too much of this either...
I'm not since you're so concerned. I didn't expect to win this one, the one I'm upset about was losing to Maryland at home. We won at Iowa so that somewhat makes up for that loss. We should beat PSU and then go on the road to play Rutgers and Nebraska on the road. Those are critical games for us, if we win both we could contend for the big ten title, if we split we're in good shape, lose both we'd be in a bit of trouble.

While it is true that teams rarely pick up road wins against conference contenders, and their season and NCAA chances will hinge more on beating the lesser teams on the road and not blowing any more home games, it would have been nice to see them be more competitive.

Maryland played well and we didn't, they hit shots they don't make usually, Trimble was on fire from 3 (usually a 25% 3pt shooter), dawson missed 6 shots within 3 ft, we shot 30% from the line, they made a ton of free throws.

Dawson misses 6 shots around the rim every single game, that's nothing new. The problem I have with this team is that they look like they've checked out completely. Dawson is the only one that brings fire to the court. Also anyone notice that Trice yells at Izzo every chance he gets?

Also I know Izzo has never really had tall point guards, but that's where college basketball is headed, I think he needs to catch up and get one soon..

Us shooting poorly from the line is nothing new. We're one of the worst free throw shooting teams in Division 1, which is baffling given that we're a good 3-point shooting team. I guess it must be that all the guys who get to the line are the bad free throw shooters.

Opponents shooting (and making) tons of free throws also is nothing new. Izzo, with the rules being what they are now, needs to teach them to play defense without fouling. Hell neither Costello nor Schilling can even play 20 minutes a game because neither can avoid getting into foul trouble and commiting dumb fouls.

30% is something new, that's our season low. we haven't been good from the line this year but we were never that bad.

30% is bad, but they also didn't have very many attempts, which is again a big problem with this team. It lives and dies with the 3 and the only guy who might have the ability to draw fouls from the opposition is Dawson, who is shooting under 40%.

Concerned? I've just been telling it like it is all year - this team is probably the 4th or 5th best team in a weak B1G. And after barely beating Minnie, Iowa just got WAXED by Wisco so that win doesn't seem to be so great. I'm just busting your chops because every time someone criticizes the team after a bad loss there's always a list of excuses for why they're wrong and no loss or bad performance seems to change that. A string of double digit wins against PSU, Neb and Rutgers (a combined 5-12 in B1G play) should provide a litany of reasons to get bulled up on the Spartans though.

Looking at the balance of the schedule, we should make the tournament because it's pretty light but anything beyond that isn't realistic.

I have to agree with most of this.
