Nevada Rancher

Bundy has no legal case, not because of the law qua law, but because the BLM changed it on him. If you read the link I offered, you'd see why he, or anyone, might object.

THIS is another whacko in this scenario: ?We can?t have an American people that violate the law and just walk away from it,? Mr. Reid told Reno TV station KRNV. ?So it?s not over.?

So...it's okay to break the law? And laws change, bro. If a speed sign says 35 today, but 55 yesterday, I can't go over 35 just because they changed things on me. It's U.S. owned land, period. They have a right to change policy whenever they want.

As I said, if Bundy tried to get the law changed the legal way, I'd be on his side. Nothing worse than a shitty landlord. He's not, though, and that's the problem. Promoting the idea of "stand your ground" against the government and rule of law is very dangerous.

Monster, I'm not saying I agree with the concept, all I know is that many homeless people have entered abandoned buildings, including foreclosed homes, and then laid claim that it is now their property. This has happened in numerous cities and states. Now I don't know if they are all Libs or Cons, and once again I do not support their argument regardless of their political affiliation. All I know is the precedent has been set, and quite frankly my bet is that was set by Dem judges who ruled in favor of the individual over the big bad corporate entity who owned the property.

I don't agree with it, you should not be abke to lay claim to property simply cause you sat your ass down on it, but there it is.

Now, should this guy resort to guns to defend what he believes is his right to graze cattle on that land, no. Is he a fucking lunatic, yes. I don't support his position, but the Cons are backing him no differently than Libs have backed others in similar situations and won. Both are wrong in my book.

Agreed completely.

I read about this.

Short summary: dumb asshole redneck rancher and his equally dumb offspring have been freeloading on the government and don't want to pay their bill.

And what Conservative media has been leaving out is the fact that all his neighbors pay their fair share.

If the US Marshals went all "Waco" on his ass, I would cheer.

20 million illegals grazing the country for free, why not one farmer

Well, we all know we have that Jew bastard Casino Jack Abramahoff to thank for fucking up Tom Delay's grip over the Republican caucus and thereby killing any chance of passing the socialist bleeding hearts Bush/McCain "bienvenido a los estados unidos" programma de amnestia of 2006, or thereabouts...which would have established those 20 million grazing wetbacks as completely non-illegal grazers.

You really are a fuckin' moron.

I'm somewhat more of a conservative than a liberal (in a perfect world I'm libertarian, but until we get there I gotta be pragmatic); but I really loathe talking points partisans who don't have the grey matter and lack the ability to think for themselves to do anything other than to regurgitate the horseshit they hear from assholes on television or the radio whom they think conform to their impression of what is fashionable.

After berating tsmith roundly in my prior post, I am compelled to (reluctantly) concur with my esteemed friend from tOSU, and give my opinion that this seems to me to be a tad much.

It's the end of the most important days of Passover, and I'm feeling Solomonesque.

Now where the fuck did I put that little baby, and my scythe?

So you think the guy and his family should be killed? And you would then cheer?

To be fair, champ said nothing about the guy's family. That's you trying to turn a yard into a mile.

You have a point, Thumb. If it's just the "dumb asshole redneck rancher" and not "his equally dumb offspring," then I guess it's cool. Nearly eighty were blown up at Waco.

First, I don't think Champ was completely serious. But, I will say that if the rancher and any of his buddies raise weapons or threaten, I won't have any sympathy for the bastards. None.

They wanted to put the women in the front so that if the government opened fire, it'd look really bad for them. That is stupidity in itself. Do I have a right to not pay for my house and then stand on my porch with a bunch of friends pointing firearms at whoever comes to take it from me? No...I don't think so.

Watched a peak of Hannity today debating some liberal woman that I've never heard of. The guy just sat there, waving his hands at her and talking over every single legitimate point she made. This is fair and balanced? No wonder your side is getting so crazy.

Nobody wants blood. That's up to the rancher, though. Go through the legal process and do what the law says you must just like you and I have to. He doesn't get special privilege just because he has a business.

So your opinion is they should have just left them all alone? Even though there were rumors of a suicide pact and 6 dead federal officers? and "blown up"? they were burned to death. Except some: Autopsy records also indicate that at least 20 Branch Davidians were shot, including five children under the age of 14. Three-year-old Dayland Gent was stabbed in the chest. The medical examiner who performed the autopsies believed these deaths were mercy killings by Branch Davidians trapped in the fire with no escape. The expert retained by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel concluded that many of the gunshot wounds "support self-destruction either by overt suicide, consensual execution (suicide by proxy), or less likely, forced execution."

What happened at Waco was a religious fanatic and his followers opened fire on ATF agents, and very likely set their own compound on fire rather then be taken alive.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait...

Let's all back up a little...

The guy said something about not recognizing the validity of the Federal Government...pretty crazy, but...

Does he have followers in a compound, like whatever his name was at Waco had?

Not from anything that I've read.

Comparing this to Waco is getting a little bit ahead of ourselves.

Occasionally civil disobedience is appropriate, but I don't think this guy is the next Dr. MLK Jr..

On hannity lasr night. Basically threatened everybody. Hannity even seemed to encourage it. What a host!

I actually thought about making a thread about this a couple weeks ago. The SPLC was following it (I get updates from several organizations & they're one of them), because the rancher's "politics" tend toward the white supremacist/sovereign citizen/militia end of the Tea-Partier fringe. I would've called the thread "Retard Watch" and made it an ongoing feature here.

The thing is... it's clearly more about simple theft than any principled stand against "government tyranny" ... and government action was pretty much non-existent here until the government attempted to enforce a court-ordered 2013 injunction against him continuing to allow his cattle to graze on public lands. link.

that's "tyranny?" he's allowed to break the law for 20+ years before the government is forced to take him to court and get an injunction from a judge, ordering him to comply with the law?

And after that he threatens to shoot/kill federal agents, and is attempting to incite violence to keep federal marshals from enforcing that court order, as they would in any other case against a reluctant/negligent defendant?

That's what's over-the-top?

here's some of the things this clown has done (link):
That?s especially clear after a review of remarks Bundy made previously in the media, including threats to start a ?range war? and ?do whatever it takes? to keep his cattle grazing freely on public land. The most notable of these was an appearance at a cattle owners convention in South Carolina in 2012 at which he trumpeted his refusal to recognize the legitimacy of the government; speaking at the same gathering was noted Patriot movement leader Richard Mack.

Bundy has been outspoken in promoting his antigovernment beliefs, including during an interview with far-right radio host Pete Santilli earlier this week. Santilli has a colorful and sordid record of saying extreme things on the air, most infamously his wish that someone would shoot Hillary Clinton in the vagina. In recent weeks he has explicitly aligned himself with the Patriot movement.
more:
The upshot of the interview was striking: Santilli wound up calling on militia members to make their way to the scene of the confrontation in Clark County. Bundy himself said that ?now it?s time to get on our boots and I guess make our stand.? Santilli urged ?anyone in the general vicinity? to make their way to the protest site so they could ?stand in the face of tyranny?. He also vowed to call Sheriff Mack and ask him to speak to the Clark County sheriff so he would do the ?constitutional? thing.

?We need a show of force,? Santilli said, comparing the confrontation to standoffs with federal authorities that occurred in the 1990s and are credited with inflaming the militia movement ? namely, at Waco, Texas, and Ruby Ridge, Idaho.
They're calling for the use of force against our nation & our government.

This is not a non-violent peaceful protest against government over-reach... he didn't pay his bill for 20+ years, lost in court, and now he's calling for violence against anyone who would attempt to enforce the judgment against him... this guy is just a creep. he deserves whatever he gets from this point on.
