I hate all the Twitter talk from people saying folks have no right to protest or to even riot ...given the decades of history of injustice there. All these privileged folks who have never been to Baltimore demanding that folks peacefully assemble if they want to be heard ...or else be dismissed for being "rioters."
I think that when you protest for years and nothing comes of it, rioting is the next evolution. And as sickening as it is, there is no way to understand how it is to live like that and feel so powerless. Sometimes smashing a window is all you can do.
And that is NOT to condone the violence on people, police and innocent drivers but it's not completely impossible to understand either.
White people being attacked in their cars, 7 cops injured (1 unresponsive), looted businesses, cars set on fire and destroyed, etc. MLK jr would be ashamed.
Rioting is a natural consequence of lots of people who are all collectively angry assembling together. Violence is the next logical step without very stern leadership preventing it.
You can't stop a mass of people like that. The only way to stop that mass of people is to prevent them from becoming so angry in the first place because you can't stop the speech or the assembly.
If your approach is that these people should just not get angry and then violent...that's not a solution that is ever going to work.
Most of these people aren't angry - just people that have nothing better to do..They are there just to get free stuff, have some drinks and party.

Its all ok until its in the middle of a progressives safe, white, suburban neighborohood.
You have no right to riot, loot, and destroy property. NO RIGHT.
One of the big problems here is that every fucking time a black man is killed or beaten by an officer, it goes straight to TV. A white guy gets killed and CRICKETS. The media is making it seem like there is a war on black people. No, police are out of control in many ways and they don't seem to care what race you are.
A white guy attacks a cop and isn't killed - all over the news.
A black guy does the same and isn't killed - You won't hear about it because that makes the cops look good.
A black guy is killed by a cop after resisting arrest - all over the news, protests, riots, destruction and people calling for the Mayor's head.
A white guy is killed by a cop after resisting arrest - You won't hear about it. Nobody protests. No destruction.
The media needs to start showing EVERYTHING. Not just one side of this story. It's fueling all of the anger and then the bad parts of the community come out. They're angry, too, but figure they can get away with just about anything.
OMFG. COPS ARE MILITARIZED! LOOK! THEY'RE WEARING ARMOR! - after the cops have been attacked with bricks, bullets, and beaten.
You have a right to protest. Bad cops and bad police procedures need to come to an end but this is absolutely the wrong way to go about it.
