So I'm watching Morning Joe while I'm getting ready for work this morning, and they're interviewing Axelrod, and either Joe or Mika says something about an "Olympic ad" and both agree about it "having to go," or something.

So a few minutes later they show the ad; it's sponsored by a pro Obama Super Pac, maybe the ad is on some website somewhere; I'm kinda focusing on three different things while they're talking about it after they show the ad, but I did stop to watch the ad.

Now - this ad - it's funny as hell. I won't describe it, I'm sure everybody will end up seeing it.

The thing is - it might be too funny.

I'm watching it, and I'm thinking "this looks more like a SNL spoof than a real political ad."

I do hear Scarborough during the commentary saying something to that effect also.

So Rensdell comes on as they segue out of discussing this ad into whatever they ended up talking to Rensdell about (still back at multi-tasking at the point) and they ask him about it, and he laughs and says "I think it's funny."

Thing is - it may be too much like a SNL spoof to be taken seriously - it's almost so much like a comedy spoof that it might actually be undignified to be officially attached to the Obama campaign.

That was just my reaction.

it fits...Obama's reign has been a SNL skit

tinsel, you might think this article is kinda funny, unless you're still sore at the onion for being a bunch of elitists who wouldn't link to your blog.

It may be a little non-cerebral, but it gets the point along they're trying to push.

The guy doing the voice-over was maybe a little too sarcastic in tone though.

And yet when Bush's term was up I remember all the late night comedians being kinda sad because of the tons of free material he gave them each and every week.

Will Ferrell also did a great job doing Bush on SNL, because one dumb guy can easily mimic another.

A non-cerebral political ad; don't wanna see that becoming any kind of a trend...

You can judge for yourself how left, right, or moderate I am, but this non-cerebral, low-brow, outsourcing, Swiss bank account, Cayman Island company attack is somewhat effective on me. I see that and I think "Crap! He is part of the problem."

I can't judge whether I'm presenting my reaction as representative of anything or if I'm just making a confession.

Red, did you see how I integrated a motif from the Richrod on Yahoo thread back over on the Mother Board?

Nope. It completely went over my head. Maybe when I was in highschool, but these days I'm not very observant about those sorts of thing. Sometimes I still catch symbolism or the importance of the use of certain colors in movies. Too many years of technical writing and presentations I guess.

Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em.
Tell 'em.
Tell 'em what you told 'em.

You might have enjoyed my first physics lab report before I knew anything about technical writing. It was about momentum and involved measurements of pucks colliding on an air table. I opened and closed the report with a story about an intermural broomball play that resulted in my not being able to stop and checking my roommate into the boards.

Yeah, I wrote one like that too.

i noticed. bravo. most posters here are not so versatile. they tend to be unable to reference things outside of a particular thread.

A little surprised the smartest poster on the board didn't catch it, though.

he's only math/science smart.

he has poor language skills because his dad always told him to focus on "real subjects" like calculus, chemistry, physics, etc. and to ignore "underwater basket-weaving" type stuff, like philosophy, English, psychology, or history.

Yeah, I wish my dad had said that to me, I'd probably have a job if he had.

my dad said it to me, but I rebelled when I was 19, and said "this isn't getting me anywhere. Time to party. no more natural science classes for a while."
