Obama speech

Around the 32 minute mark he talks about how the dems used to be the party against racial equality before launching into what's wrong with the republicans right now.

very good. I wish he'd go away though. we're in this mess right now in large part because of him.

There is one reason why one speaks different than the other.. One is a career politician and the other isn't. A big reason why Trump got the votes..

Are there any billionaire businessmen that speak that poorly either? If you want to be objective about it, a significant fraction of what he says is made up of incomplete sentences.

edit: Actually, I've very rarely watched more than short clips. I have to allow for the possibility that people select his worst efforts. I see that as a long shot though.

I suspect there are more businessman that speak more like Trump than not. Not the nasty part of Trump but no Obama, and I'll admit even as Pres. go Obama is more charismatic than most.

Yeah, Obama is definitely more polished, but if you think that means Trump is a geniune person, you're full of it.

The way Trump speaks is fake as hell.

It makes my skin crawl, the way he panders to bullshit claims of patriotism, and stoking fear in Mexicans, Muslims, Blacks, etc. Nothing "real" about that.

He speaks truth, his truth. Maybe not my truth or yours but people like that straight forwardness..

People pander all over not just Trump. Other Pres. people from all over.. My point was that he got in because many didn't want the same ole same ole and would take a risk with Trump. But he's not near as bad as some think..

I don't even think it's his truth. He lies. He knows he's lying. How is anybody still fooled.

The media lies, the dems lie, the republicans lie - circle of life. You think Hilary was truthful, Obama, Bill etc. CBS, Fox, NBC and the list goes on.. And it will continue .. Which is why I hate them all..

Everybody lies would not mean Trump is telling his truth though.

As long he thinks it's the truth - how can we say otherwise. I have no idea what goes on in his head. Some people say he's a dictator.. and they believe it. It's a far cry from Trump, and North Korea guy.

It is not unusual for former presidents to make speeches at rallies supporting candidates of their own party.

That?s just what they do.

if you'd like to be objective about it, watch Obama speak without a teleprompter or a script. he's not nearly as polished or dynamic as you'd expect.

when did he stoke fear in or of Mexicans, Muslims or Blacks?

Not billionaires though. I doubt that.

Sam Zell has one of the most crass, un-pc potty mouths of anyone I've ever heard speak - he's a billionaire. I recall the guy dropping f-bombs every other word. hardly spoke a sentence without cursing. My boss was in a meeting with him at the head of a conference table in Zell's offices, the room was packed with men and women and he was talking about his investment in cruise ships saying something like "the prospects of this business give me a fucking boner from here to that wall." He was pointing to the opposite wall in a pretty big room, so he was talking about a rather large boner.

Edit: he may have said "hard on" instead of boner - I don't recall exactly, it was about 20 years ago.

Edit 2: he also has 2 degrees from uofm, so that could have something to do with it.
