... I know we're not supposed to say it, but I will anyway.

Just think, if the refs don't blow the call against Seattle at the end, the Lions would be legit contenders for a wildcard right now at 5-6, right in the mix with all the other teams and an easy schedule ahead.

If only.

Maybe we still have lower Lombar problems if that is the case.

You both make valid points. Just another week in the life of a Lions fan.

It is becoming more evident the biggest problem lied with the coaches who were fired and should have been fired sooner, but Mayhew didn't...so that problem was corrected too.

If only they had been fired weeks earlier, might be 7-4 instead of 4-7...but can't change the past. However, why did Caldwell constantly defend them instead of fix it??? He deserves enough blame to be fired still but unfortunately he continues to be the coach.

Yes, even after today's win...i want Caldwell gone.

Doubtful. I think Martha, Mayhew, everyone knew we should have won that game, so that loss certainly didn't help get rid of him.

All the other shit did, and that's still there.

I don't see why we would keep him. He didn't fix the problems when we had Lombardi, and he didn't fix the problems when Lombardi was fired.

Austin and Cooter did this, not Caldwell.

Defense looked like swiss cheese after that first Philly touchdown to tie it. I wonder exactly what adjustments Austin made. They were clearly the right ones.

Austin/Cooter 2016 bumper stickers incoming.

Or if they did not blow a 21-3 lead verses a shitty San Diego team also..
I agree Caldwell deserves none of this.. He did not see that Lombardi was a huge problem..
Meyhew was awful. Glad that pinhead is toast..

Cooter understands ball control and ToP are important, which is why he is running more. the SD game was lost due to ToP imbalance.

Very true, but it's also easy to be optimistic after a 3 game winning streak, especially one that started with a game no one thought we could win.

There's a lot happening with this offense right now, with new terminology, play calling, installing a new playbook... all mid-season.

I expect to see this offense sputter a bit still. It's just a realistic expectation for this much change at this juncture.

I think we are rooting for Green Bay to beat the Bears..
but maybe not..Not sure..

Damn it all suck me into looking at tiebreakers and wildcard dreams

Well, whether you think it's good or bad for the Lions, I very much enjoy watching the Packers lose at Lambeau.

Takes a bit of the shine of our win. The Packers are just not very good right now.

One of my friends who watches and knows his football has said the same thing about the Lions - seahawks game.

He can't believe how bad these refs are, says they are almost as bad as the ones who filled in during their strike.

Bears beating Packers is good. If Lions win out and Bears win rest except for lose again to Detroit, the Lions hold tiebreaker as they beat Bears twice head to head. Only chance Lions have is to win out, IMO. Possible to get in at 8-8, but that is usually a Division winner and not a Wildcard that gets in with that record. 9-7 might not be enough, but at least they have tiebreaker over Bears.

Green Bay will lose to Detroit, Arizona, and Minnesota as they are in meltdown mode. That puts them at 9-7 with Lions holding tiebreaker.

Let Minn have the division this year I guess. They would need to lose 5 of those games since they hold tiebreaker over Lions. Possible, but doubtful. Much depends on their next two v Atlanta and Seattle. Win both, they are in line for division win. Lose both and maybe they do lose 5 of those games. Split hurts lions more than those other options, IMO. Need Atl to lose 4 and Seattle to lose 3.

Granted all of that is with the Lions winning out, so....

Hey, if they did win out they would definitely set some NFL records for teams making playoffs after terrible starts and gain confidence to maybe win a playoff game...but fuck that would mean Caldwell will stay and that just sucks too much to comprehend. I really ucking hate him. I'd rather Lions miss playoffs and for his ass this year since it already has sucked so bad than for him to ruin another season. Fuck Mayhew for hiring that no good quitter. Ugh...
