@Oregon line +13

I would take MSU but it's not a terrible line. We lost a lot of starters on defense - no matter what you think of waynes it's going to be hard for the backfield to be as good without Dennard and Lewis and we lost our best middle and outside linebackers. And we've never played against an offense like Oregon's. If our offense is the same offense that struggled most of the season, 2 scores isn't outrageous.

I still like our chances to win outright, but favoring Oregon by 13 is almost crazy. We lost starters, but this isn't exactly the first time, and we've continued to be one of the best defenses in college. We haven't had those complete dud offensive games since Maxwell got demoted really. We play a whole lot like Stanford, who has made a living off crushing Oregon's dreams the last few years.

Our defense is going to control the line of schrimmage and overload the middle of the field. Our offense is going to run and run until it wears out Oregon's D. Obviously I'm a little biased, and I do think the game will be close, but Oregon isn't filled with NFL players like Alabama and FSU. They play a specific style and they play it damn well, but gum up their machine and things go downhill for them quickly.

we lost all big ten performers on defense and there will be a drop off but our offense should be better. we return almost everyone at the skill positions and we just seem to roll out ready to dominate red shirt juniors on defense. D-line will be nasty and I don't think there is a program in the country that's better an't developing defensive backs. mariota is a tough early assignment but simply stated 13 is a bit much.

Maxwell barely played in the ND game and after that it was all Cook. We struggled against ND w/ Cook and after that we struggled against Purdue, Michigan and Minnesota (iowa too, really) and really only "lit it up" against IU and Illinois. We do have experienced backups to hopefully step up but the game is early in the season so that's kind of a big ask, particularly in the defensive backfield against a team like Oregon. I'd still take MSU to cover but I'm not surprised that it's a 2 score line.

Help me understand why betting lines for these games are already published.

I have no idea why, particularly the games beyond week 1 and even then it's early. I think it's more of a gimmick - the site I used in the past isn't even publishing lines let alone taking action on week 1 games.

But it's getting the conversations started. Only 71 days until the first game kicks off - can't wait!
