the CEO of Cumulus, the radio network that carries his show has now stated their poor financial performance from last year was due to advertising fall out after Limbaugh criticised Sandra Fluke.
Adjusted Ebitda fell 22.1 percent from the same period last year, while net revenue fell 1.3 percent to $232.9 million due in part to ?general lower advertising spending in some of our markets,? according to the company?s statement.

During a conference call with analysts, Dickey was asked if the decline can be attributed directly to the StopRush campaign. According to Daily Kos, his only response was to say that it was a ?tough go of it in the last year and that the facts are indisputable.?
Limbaugh of course blamed others.
?media buyers at advertising agencies are young women fresh out of college, liberal feminists who hate conservatism.?
through his people, he also stated that Cumulus' CEO is trying to blame him for the overall poor performance of his company.

Always the victim...

Good juicy bait. The real question is whether this thread will turn into the Rush bashing circle jerk all the other ones became.

What do you think?

No. We already established that he's a pathetic windbag, and other unsavory things. no sense beating that dead horse.

I was hoping similar-minded posters would read this and welcome the news of Rush Limbaugh's career's potential demise. maybe even by posting an emoticon like this >:D, this :p, this , or this .

Or maybe discuss where Rush goes from here. If Cumulus dumps him, I doubt Clear Channel will pick him up; their sales will suffer too. conservative ideals tend to take a backseat to "profits" when it comes down to it. maybe he lowers himself to the dustbin of a local market, goes to XM radio (like Howard Stern) with an accordingly limited audience, or goes behind a paywall like Glenn Beck did. Presumably he's still popular enough that he can earn a living billing sad, pathetic individuals to hear him speak.

That's also not a disputable point: if you are paying to hear Rush Limbaugh speak, you are sad and pathetic.

Is Limbaugh some sort of wealthy humanitarian figure deserving of great praise for his fact-filled "brutal" honesty and philanthropic deeds?

Or is he in fact a loathsome "former" drug-addled and alleged/suspected chimo hypocrite who preys on the fears, hatred, and prejudices of the more ignorant, gullible, and un/undereducated, that comprise a sizable part of society, who "religiously" listen to his biased rants b/c they mirror, reinforce, and justify their own? Whether or not Rush truly believes what he bleats through the radio mic is actually irrelevant, when $$$ in the form of ad-dollars and as a result, further enhancing his rabble-rousing reputation, thereby further fattening his own MM$$$ bankroll is the ultimate goal.

He's an attention whore who became a charicature of himself at the time he appeared on The Simpsons and took a short-lived shot at sports. He is in the business of self-promotion and is wealthy as a result.

I'd say he's more likened to a modern day Evangelist than anything else ....I don't think he cares what he says so long as he provokes people and the fact that he prevents anybody with opposing views on his show, says it all.

So not bashing Rush -- he's always been a douche bag and honestly, I haven't heard him on the radio or listened to him in many, many years.

I would also imagine his ratings are suffering because terrestrial radio is suffering -- how hard would it be for him to launch a Sirius Channel -- all Rush, all the time!?

Limbaugh generates $363 mill in ads on the 40 stations owned by cumulus(525 stations total)carrying him.
I suppose they could replace him with Air America....

Ask him to loan you $1000.

I cannot listen to Rush Limbaugh any less than I already do, so I cannot contribute to the demise of his radio show any more than I already am doing.
