Joel Piniero, Moyer, Millwood, Francis, Garland.. I know they have signed with other clubs but there has to be a guy we can go snag...

Maybe Oswalt. There has to be someone out there we could get... Maybe we try and get Lannan now...

Who is going to replace who?
Are you giving up on Smyly - who hasn't thrown a pitch yet in the majors?
Are you releasing Scherzer for his pizz-poor performance yesterday?
Are you assuming Fister will be gone indefinitely?
Did we (undefeated) get knocked out of 1st Place - creating a panic mode?

I don't think we need to go out an get a pitcher.

Scherzer was bad yesterday, but our offense carried us and we were never in danger of not being able to come back.

Smyly and whoever is brought up to fill in for Fister should be able to get the job done, assuming Scherzer just had one of his rough days and bounces back.

Also 2 rookie pitchers should be ok, because if they get into trouble early, out 2 long men have done pretty well, plus Coke should be able to handle it.

Just hopefully the two rooks don't need long BP help back to back or they might get a tad tired, the BP.

Well a Verlander day is like giving the BP a day off, assuming he does not get one of those guys who fouls off 8 pitches per AB and runs his PC up too early.

I'm just worried about Fister's injury. He went on the DL quickly so he could be out for a long time. I'm hoping no more than 3-4 weeks but if its 2 months or more, shit.

He went on the DL quick because they needed roster space.

It's a strain, a little rest, and proper stretching when it's cold and he'll be fine.

Well it is the 15 day DL but we have also heard anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks.. There is no way we can go a whole season with Smyly and Below as a starter all season.. Plus you just never know how these injuries heal.. I am not in panic mode but this is serious and we need to be ready.. I say go get another pitcher somewhere and worry about his feelings later after Fister comes back.. BTW Smyly was roughed up at Toledo the other day in only 3 innings so i really have no clue how he will be in the majors.. Hopefully both Below and Smyly will be ok but it never hurts to look and have a plan... There has to be someone out there somewhere because the only thing holding the Tigers back from winning it all will be starting pitching in the end...

Has Jim mentioned starting Below? I hadn't heard that since the season opened.
BTW - they are looking hard at Oliver and Crosby this week.

No need to panic until we find out Fister's status - after the 15-day DL stint has ended. I am not one to put a cart in front of it's horse.

Please don't let this thread get out in the public. Last thing I want to see is Dombrowski trading for Joe Blanton....lol

Looks like Oliver shart his pants again....
I am wondering that the more control issues this kid has, the more it affects him bordering on steve blass / dontrelle willis disease.

I had read that Brandon Inge can play anywhere on the field. As such, he'll likely be the replacement for Fister, and will challenge JV for the "ace" position.

Inge was a relif pitcher in College, I'm sure told anyone that would listen that he wouldn't have blown that save on opening day or that now he can fill in for Fister
