KC found this on Nate Robertson's blog and it is in the Tiger notes be post and he seems to be blaming Rick not that the call to threw over to first is coming from the dugout.. Look Rick threw over to first way to many times when Elvis was on first base... But even so He has to execute... I still say it is coming from the dugout he threw over to first tonight at least 6-10- times with Elvis on first.

Bottom of the third in game 163/

Tolbert>>> single.
Punto>> K.
Span >> Single Tolbert to second.
O dog>>. Fly out deep Tolbert to third.
SPAN>>> PICKOFF SAFE E1 TOLBERT SCORES. span to second.
Mauer>>> walks.
Kubal>>>. K's

Tonights was later in the game and hurt even worse... Twice this has happened to Rick.. I mean at 22 he looks so close to putting it together sometimes and a inning like what happens tonight just crushes Tiger nation...... Man he was pitching so well we all knew with our lack of hitting on inning would hurt Rick.... damn it..

Thanks Ron for finding it...

Porcello stepped up big time and pitched a terrific game.

This was on the offense, as it has been the whole series.

Mitch[/color]]And quit pitching to Cruz, holy crap.

What really is the problem is HOW they are pitching Cruz. I went through the video's from the Tampa Series in which he went 1 for 15 (.067 AVG) w/ 5K and TB constantly pitched him away, away, away.

Now come to our series and its like every AB he comes up were either trying to hammer him inside or elevate above the letters and it opens up for him to kill mistakes more so then if your missing low and outside. This guy is not known for taking very many walks at all (Only 38 this season and 1 in the playoffs). If your missing low or outside or both you more so force him to swing at your pitch's and not hitting game tying and game winning HR's.

All 4 of his HR's against us have been mistakes either not elevated enough (Verlander and Scherzer) or right down the pipe (Valverde and Perry) that even I could put a good swing on after being out of baseball for 10 years lol. Its just amazing how you can go against the scouting report when it matters the most.

Rick pitched a hell of a game. The Rangers are a very good hitting team. Throwing the ball away sucked and it was a bad error but it is not why this team lost. Hell, Porcello looked better than JV did this series. I actually am very happy with what Rick did. I would have bet money the Tigers would win if we only allowed 3 runs in 10 innings again. Guess I would have lost money.

The whole point is he threw over to first to much with Elvis on first with two outs and a struggling young at the plate... Did the dugout make him throw over to first that many times.. What was it 6, 7 8 times... You concentrate on Young they may not take the lead... Rick pitched a helluva game but we still lost...One bad in inning and to many throws to first may have cost the Tigers a game..

Tigers are hurting on offense with so many players out and others that are playing hurt and at 50/60/70 percent.
Using bench players as starters can't really expect them to hit like who they are replacing.
Get better advance scouts.

The offense scoring 3 runs is what costs us the game.

This blame for this game rests entirely on the offense, as does the loses in the first two games.

Our pitching has held one of the top offenses in check, they haven't scored more than 3 runs in the first 9 innings of a game yet, but our offense continually fails to score.

Let me be clear... In all my post I have blasted our offense... I know that is the main reason we are losing this series. But everyone acts like a team cannot win getting just five hits last night... Those type of wins happen a lot in MLB history... Jim has to get his club over the top last night. He could have made the difference..... It's just my opinion but Jim and his staff had a rough game yesterday.
