Get StartedThe biggest thing being overlooked, is Rick went deeeeeeep into the game.
That was his problem last year, this is the most positive sign from today.
im hoping for a low/mid 3's ERA and a whip around 1.1 or 1.2. any higher for either wouldnt be much of an improvement.Porcello got better when he added that changeup.
I don't expect him to be this good every time out. I'd be more-than-happy if Rick won 15-16 - dropped his ERA to 4.0 - his WHIP to 1.31
while this is true, he's done better than last year on both fronts before. im hoping he takes a real step forward this year and sets new career bests.Considering his era last year was 4.74 and his whip was 1.407 I would consider anything lower then a last year a improvement... I to expected really good things out of Rick this year but and I hope he makes great strides but mid to lower 3's might be asking to much... I hope he does it but right now he looks great..

Porcello looked really good yesterday. He is finally becoming a big league pitcher by being able to control his pitch count and really working the hitters with an array of pitches and placement. Hopefully he can keep it up this year.
I'd love to agree with you but come on, it's been 2 games...
He had a nice first 2 starts, lets just see how he does from here on out.
Personally, I think he's benefitting from pitching in front of Verlander. I've always thought of him as a prototypical 5th pitcher, hopefully they don't move him up in the rotation where he might not be as comfortable.
I'm not sure that's the same as batting in front of Miguel. And I didn't see Penny benefit last season..
