Porcello

Well as crazy as this sounds Rick has become the Tigers first three game winner. And has become the second starter to win back to back starts! And this in the Tigers 27 game. Looking back Texas and Seattle really messed this team up so far this season Take out those two games and Porcello would have an ERA of 1.76. Anyway Rick has won over Chisox twice now this season. And that has gotten the Tigers 3-3 against them which is better now than the first series.

Monday it's off to Seattle need to repay them for there visit. A little payback would get this team a going.

Congrats to Rick for his win today thoe is in order. Next up for Rick is Oakland.

Some credit to Jeff Jones too, he tweaked both Ricky's and Max's mechanics, and both pitched much better.

Max's game yesterday was pretty impressive, a blown save away from sweeping the Sox.

Rick is definitely throwing harder this year. He was working in the 93-95mph range with his fastball yesterday. Last season he was more in the 90-93mph range, IIRC.

KC has talked at length to me how we changed him for a power pitcher to a sinker pitcher when he first came up.. Nice to see him getting up to the 93-95 MPH on a few pitches.. he was a power pitcher coming out of HS.

I think I saw 96mph once, when he hit the guy in the 7th(?)... I know I saw 93, 94 and 95 with some regularity though. He just looked stronger than last season.

Yeah you're not doing the kid any favors trying to make him into something he isn't. If he has power-pitcher stuff, let him BE a power pitcher.

Thankfully it seems the 93-95 stuff is still able to induce ground balls. At this point it looks like we're better off keeping the ball on the infield rather than letting that inept outfield take care of it.

He doesn't have power pitcher stuff.

Even when he was tabbed a power pitcher coming out of HS, he wasn't a power pitcher, he actually sat in the low 90's.

His sinker has always been his best pitch.
