Preseason Game 1: Browns @ Lions Thread

I guess I'm not as desperate. Michigan and the Lions have just left me defeated year after year, it's hard for me to get excited until they actually do something, and you know you have a solid product coming back. Both of those teams are an absolute unknown.

And as much as I love football, it signals the end of summer. Which is depressing.

Not here in Arizona, end of the summer is awesome

No wonder you're so negative. You're the most depressing human being on Earth. You're still talking about the 0-16 season for fuck sakes. lol. Cheer the fuck up!!!

Boo hoo. Lions lost in the past. Boo hoo hoo

Man up and notice the talent. Your feelings shouldn't affect how you think about the Lions potential. Every year is a new team with a new set of circumstances. Especially with new coaches.

1958-1990, same. 1991, bam..win a playoff game. 1992-2013, same.

That's like saying to a guy who's had his wife cheat on him over 100 times in the past "Man up! She's changed now man! She's got her life together and now you can be happy!"

Kinda hard to just let a lifetime's worth of heartache go. I'll believe the Lions are for real when I see it. Potential is just what it is. Potential only. It isn't results.

Always the question, who's better Detroit or Cleveland - !!

Comparing your wife who's bobbing up and down on dudes junk on the regular to Lions football isn't remotely the same, buddy. See a shrink ;)

It was just an analogy :) haha. I understand they are not the same. The point is, why should I buy into the Lions being good when they have always let me down in the past? I need to see it first.

I was just playing, bro. I feel ya...

It's not the same wife. We upgraded the wife with new coaches and weapons and some good role players in Jones, Ihedigbo and Van Noy. The new wife just happens to have the same name.

Tony, it's a message board, I have my opinions. I apologize that they aren't all sunshine and roses. I've done the optimism stuff every year since I knew what Lions football was. Now I'm just apathetic towards them until they prove something.

I'm already getting excited for the Michigan basketball season, and actually I'm looking forward to the Pistons to see how they will be. I love football, always have and always will, but I'm so down on this team. Last year was one of the most painful I've dealt with as a Lions fan. And I was at the game where the Bears knocked the Lions out of the playoffs, last game of the Silverdome. Losing this gift-wrapped division was a slap in the face to the entire fan base.

Long story short, right now I'm in the show-me mode. Just show me progress.

That isn't the point. I'm just saying that you can't blame a man for having trust issues with women, if he's gone through that sort of thing. Just like you can't blame Lions fans for being skeptical and cynical after all the crap this franchise has put us through.

This relationship is different. This a new woman. They aren't all the same. If one burned you in the past, find a better one. This version is good.

Hey man I want to believe you. It's just pretty hard to. I just hope you understand why.
