Preseason Game 1: Browns @ Lions Thread

2014 is a completely new set of coaches and circumstances (competition/health) with a good number of new players too.

10-11 wins is the correct prediction. If it doesn't happen there will be a reason why. Injuries is a good bet.

Sorry but I'm not gonna rely on your first statement and feel good about things. We've been saying that same thing to ourselves every time about this year. Just replace "2014" with any year between about 1957 and 2013.

Let's see it happen now. Injuries = excuse. Every team has injuries, yes some worse than others. That's supposed to make me feel better if the team goes 7-9 but it was due to injuries? No that's a crappy year, and I had to watch 9 losses versus only 7 wins. Not good enough.

Well then enjoy your pity party. I'm going to enjoy a great season starting now. I've seen the changes made and I know this team is something special.

If it's a great season, I will enjoy it every bit as much as you sir :)

Boo hoo. Lions lost in the past. Boo hoo hoo

Man up and notice the talent. Your feelings shouldn't affect how you think about the Lions potential. Every year is a new team with a new set of circumstances. Especially with new coaches.

Ahhh that magical time of the year when we all entertain the thought for a few moments that it will be different this time...gotta love it

Something special? :hmm:

I can't wait until this time next year, when the world analyzes the Lions schedule and ponders if there is a team out there abke to break the Lions win streak after going 23-0, including preseason, this year. Will they possibly even lose another game this decade??? I certainly do not believe it is possible, with all the talent the players and coaches have.

Enjoy the ride while it lasts everyone. It starts now!!!!

I remember last year in the first half of the first regular season game, the Lions made some great plays but also did their typical "shoot myself in the foot repeatedly" routine with bone-headed turnovers, bad penalties, and misplays. I was so mad watching the game, shook my head, and said to my dad; "Same old Lions." I turned the game off and did something else. Next day, I find out they actually ended up winning the game, and I got sucked back in over the next month by their winning record and started to think maybe they had finally turned the corner despite continued bone-headedness just about every game. We all now how that turned out... again.

I am done drinking the Kool Aid... never again. I'm a fan, so I'm probably going to watch when I can (unless the give me repeated reasons to facepalm, then I'll just turn it off and do something else). If they put together a good brand of football and win, I'll enjoy it. If they make the playoffs and actually win a playoff game, I'll be really happy. But not for one second do I expect anything but heartbreak to come to those who drink the Kool Aid, and I refuse to be suckered into the preseason optimism around this team, again.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Well said. It's why people are apathetic/wait and see mode with this team. There are a few people on here who get irritated with others who are down and not all sunshine and daffodils with them, and it's freaking ridiculous.

I actually forgot all of my past pain with these guys when they were in prime position to win the division. And then they choked, and choked, and choked. It all came back to me.

how many points does our high powered "no holes" 1st string offense score against the shitty browns?

I am trying to remain optimistic but they have burned me way to many times. But I am ready for football. Hell I was so desperate I watched the CFL a few weeks ago.

Ebron is already injured so that could be considered a hole. I guess we'll just have to make due with our other 1st round TE drafted in the last five years. I just threw up in my mouth a little.
