Link. (hilariously written by a graduate of "Palm Beach Atlantic University," one of those small insulated christian enclave colleges where you can go to have your worldviews reinforced, instead of challenged):
"Speaking at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Fla., Thomas, the second black justice to serve on the court, lamented what he considers a society that is more ?conscious? of racial differences than it was when he grew up in segregated Georgia in the days before ? and during ? the civil rights era."
...
?The worst I have been treated was by northern liberal elites. The absolute worst I have ever been treated,? Thomas said. ?The worst things that have been done to me, the worst things that have been said about me, by northern liberal elites, not by the people of Savannah, Georgia.?
Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Northern Liberal Elites.

All that footage you've seen in 1960's montages about civil rights activists getting murdered, beaten by police & attacked by police dogs, blasted with fire hoses... you'd be surprised to learn that those activists were just confused. there actually were no racial problems... they were just causing trouble for no reason.

If they would've just gone back to sharecropping, not voting, not complaining about living in a segregated society, gone to Yale Law School (ironically getting accepted through affirmative action, and later arguing against affirmative action when they no longer stood to benefit from it) adopted Conservative political opinions that defended segregation, voter disenfranchisement, and slavery, then they would get invitations to speak at places like Palm Beach Atlantic University.

But none of that shit ever happened to Clarence Thomas.

What DID happen to happen to Thomas was that Northern Liberal Elitists said all kind of mean and nasty things about him during his confirmation hearings.

Not a very effective redirect. Clarence was speaking for Clarence. Seriously wondering how anyone can dispute one's own personal experience.

when that person is using their own experience to explain away millions of others' experiences

If Thomas had said "Liberal Northern elitists treated me worse than the segregationist local and state governments in the South treated civil rights activists who were getting murdered, beaten by police & attacked by police dogs, blasted with fire hoses..."

Then yeah, I would say that would have sounded like a fairly wacky statement on his part...

So, where does the pubic hair on the Diet Coke can rank?

I don't remember that; the thing I remember most about his confirmation hearings was that somebody, Anita Hill or someone, said that he liked to refer to himself as Long Dong Silver.

that was reason #53.

we've come a long way since then.

taking up several reasons in between is this (link). many of the other reasons come from his jurisprudence.

What a coincidence! I'm walking past this little art-house movie theater, and there's a movie out now about Anita Hill.

I'll have to check it out on netflix

I walk in the theater, and was told that actually the movie is not out yet. They just had the poster up promoting it.

But I would imagine would be available through Netflix at some time.

Although I'm sure it's just propaganda produced by a bunch of Hollywood left-wing limousine liberal elitist types.
