ricin allegedly sent to us senator

Now don't flag my search history, ok government?

Yeah, I purposely didn't google how easy it might be to get them, for that reason.

I never used to be at all paranoid about stuff like that until the Patriot Act happened and suddenly all the rights guaranteed by our Constitution went out the window.

ain't doin' anything wrong, ain't got nuthin to worry about!

that's what tLiar would say, if he was still around.

. . . yep - all except the one concerning guns that is - how did that one survive? :*)

I'm pretty sure if you're subject to the Patriot Act, they don't let you have a gun either.

Why was tsmith banned?

Let's see, he made a bet, didn't pay, and every thread he was a part of turned into an argument about it. He insisted it wasn't a valid bet and if anything got more troll-ish. Vic made $1,000 donation. But at some point, I started skipping any posts of his, so I couldn't say what the breaking point was. I read and even respond to posts I think are troll posts; it takes a lot for me to decide that a poster just can't add anything worth reading, but that's where it went for me.

You coulda just said because he was an asshole.

Having a law apply and enforcing it are two completely separate things. Sort of like immigration.

I bet there are many that are "subject" to the Patriot act (whatever that means), that still exercise that right to a gun - even getting permits.

If you don't know what it means, it would obviously be a waste of my time to try to explain it to you.

Typical stupid answer from thumb. I wouldn't want you to waste your time.

HA! Figures.

. . . and you wonder why there is never a useful discussion between us. I on the other hand already knew you had no clue, otherwise there may have been a real answer.

So which of us is not "subject" to the Patriot Act oh great and wise one?

we're all subject to the Patriot Act... it's US law.

guessing on a lot of right-wing blogs the understanding is it only "targets" and therefore affects terrorists, not real Americans (which is also understood to mean white Americans.)

The were some decent shenanigans in reaction to Obama's extension of the act via autopen. I'd like for someone to challenge it on the grounds that he didn't actually sign it into law.

Well I was alluding to that, but even if we say any citizen suspected of terrorist acts as the given definition (trying to follow his train of thought, and I'm sure failing miserably), I don't think there is any provision that prohibits granting a gun license to all persons that might fit that definition.

If they already know you are a terrorist, well then OK, but that isn't what was posted.

The tongue-in-cheek comment I made as evidenced by the " :*) " was just meant to advance the humor, not as some argument for guns.

. . . and as usual . . . I probably got that wrong too.

so the elvis impersonator turns out to be innocent; all charges dropped. apparently it is incredibly easy to frame someone for a capital crime. ridiculously easy. yet, some honestly believe we should be able to torture suspects based on police suspicion, and miranda warnings are too burdensome... sure... they make it harder to convict an innocent man lazy authorities try to pin crimes on

My understanding is, the initial suspect tortured the FBI with his Elvis impersonations.

And he was supposed to be semi-professional.

Imagine what it would have been like if those three Al Queda mother fuckers that were water boarded broke out into a rendition of Blue Suede Shoes just prior to the interrogation?

Would have been awful.
