Died this morning at age 38. He had been hospitalized for a couple weeks, not sure the cause. Was perhaps the best athlete to ever suit up for MSU, RIP.

Posted likewise on the NFL General forum, should have checked on this MSU Spartans first..whoops.

I grew up near Saginaw, guy is a legend there in high school for football and track. Loved him at MSU when I was a kid, sad how his life completely unraveled and could never get it together.

The hits keep coming - very sad news.

not sure who was a better raw talent, Rogers or Burress but Rogers didn't seem to have the same attitude/motivation problems. I remember Plaxico being unstoppable when he wanted to be but also remember him taking plays off and half-assing it in less meaningful games. It's been awhile but I remember Rogers being dominant every time he stepped on the field for MSU.

I was surprised when his career imploded almost immediately while Plaxico didn't ruin his until much later. Too many young kids get bad advice and make decisions they're not ready to make - I always wonder what could have been for guys like Rogers and Marcus Taylor.

Matt Millen remembers Charles Rogers for his big heart, not as draft bust.
