RIP Harry Anderson (Judge, Night Court)

I noticed the lady who played Roz wasn't in the credits. she was pretty damn funny

I forgot about Markie Post. wasn't John Larroquette's character always asking her out?

8-year-old me never understood that kinda thing. I'd think "Hey, this is a great show, why would they want to leave? What the shit???"

30 Rock did an episode where they needed to create one more episode of Night Court. Season 3, Episode 3, 'The One with the Cast of Night Court'. It's here:

Skip to 10:05. Not sure where else in the episode, but 10:05 is part of it.

The one before Roz didn't have a choice. She passed away.

Harry also had a couple episodes on Cheers. Very funny.

Rest in peace, Harry.

Well son of a gun.

I guess I don't remember ever watching the show before it didn't suck.

The 1 original cast member, before Markie. was the 1st year. Not even sure she made it through season 1. The one before Charles was only a few episodes.

looking up Markie Post because I vaguely recall her being attractive, but don't remember much of what she looked like.

damn... the 80's had some horrible looks for women. those big perms.

If anyone watched Fall Guy, Lee Majors - Markie post was in that for awhile. It was before Night Count.

she was also apparently in a couple episodes of the A-Team.

not that 4-year-old me would've noticed. back in those days, all I cared about was seeing Mr. T kick ass, and Hannibal come up with genius plans.

kinda like Dukes of Hazzard... I didn't even remember Daisy Duke until they started showing re-runs in the 90's. As a teenager, I wondered: "how did I miss that?"

The A-team at 4? At 9 I was watching shows like Run Joe Run and reruns of Speed Racer. I was 11 before I watched anything adult related - Rocky.

the A-Team is adult related?

It was actually a pretty tame show (no blood in the fights, no one ever got killed or even shot). it's almost a live action cartoon in a way.

My parents didn't seem to monitor what I watched early on... I did watch cartoons & Sesame Street, but I also remember watching Dukes of Hazzard, A-Team, Ripley's Believe it or Not (hosted by Jack Palance), game shows like Wheel of Fortune, & Barney Miller. I guess none of that stuff had sex or violence in it really.

as I got older - like grade school aged - they clamped down on what we could watch, particularly movies.

I remember envying the kids who's parents let them watch (or more likely didn't care what their kids were doing) the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies, or crazier stuff.

That's the thing, no one gets killed. So maybe kids think I can use guns and no one will get hurt. Adult or not, at 4? I was watching electric Company. Plus the humor, and Face's conversations about women definitely not for a young kid.

I remember when I did watch Rocky, it was bed time, 8pm, and I snuck into the family room and hid behind the couch.. Mom and Dad never noticed. I felt so sneaky. It was awesome.

Well... yeah. if they showed the consequences of gun violence, like bones shattered, blood spewing everywhere, people screaming as they bled to death, etc. then the government wouldn't have allowed A-Team on the air, period.

But I watched that cartoonish, sanitized version during some of the most impressionable years of my life, and I never thought it would be okay to shoot guns at people. nor did I grow up to be a violent person. although I did initially support the 2003 Iraq War (not that my support mattered), and I voted for George W Bush in 2000. but I was young. and stupid.

I suspect that seeing actual consequences of gun violence at age 4 would've been more traumatic for me.
