yep, the republicans kept us very safe, except for that one day. We did respond by invading the wrong country, that'll teach them! Bush was given a memo on august 6 2001 saying that bin laden was determined to attack the US with planes.

In reality, I'm not blaming any administration for attacks on US soil, this is tough to predict and they get so many reports you will get it wrong from time to time. It's the idiots like Rudy who want to make this into some kind of partisan war over terrorist attacks.

"BUSH KEPT US SAFE... well, except for, you know, the worst terrorist attack in US history, but OTHER THAN THAT HE KEPT US SAFE!!!"

Uh ...remember all that intelligence info that Clinton gave us warning of Al-Quaeda and other terrorist groups targeting the US?? .... well.....I've got to tell you something.

That was really on Bill Clinton, who is basically Obama. RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!

Ok. Rudy was offsides.

After the 1993 WTC bombings, the FDNY found that some of their radios would not work inside the towers. For the next 8 years they requested upgraded radio systems so that they could communicate more effectively on the scene of incidents like that, should they ever happen again. Guliani pushed against these requests, and they were never given better radios.

When the first tower came down, an evacuation of the second tower was called. All FDNY and NYPD personnel were to try and leave the building before it's too late. But, the radios didn't work. Many, many firefighters and police never heard the call, and remained inside attempting to rescue people until the second tower collapsed. Guliani doomed these brave people to die inside there because he was stingy about helping them get the equipment they needed, and now he parades around as if he's some sort of hero.

Guliani got firefighters and police killed on 9/11. Guliani did nothing positive on or after 9/11 to help police and firefighters. He's a fucking ghoul who keeps bringing up that it happened in the city while he was mayor as if that somehow qualifies him for anything, but when you know the truth...emergency servants died because of Guliani and every time he sanctimoniously talks about 9/11 I want to spit in his scumbag face.

Here's a video from the IAFF, firefighters union, about Guliani's fraudulent "9/11" narrative.

Here's a little color on the radio issue from Wikipedia...

A 1994 mayoral office study of the radios indicated that they were faulty. Replacement radios were purchased in a $33 million no-bid contract with Motorola, and implemented in early 2001. However, the radios were recalled in March 2001 after a probationary firefighter's calls for help at a house fire could not be picked up by others at the scene, leaving firemen with the old analog radios from 1993.

if it took nearly 7 years to upgrade the system, is it reasonable to put the blame at Guiliani's feet for not finding, procuring and implementing a 3rd solution in just a few months?

The key thing here, and I don't know the answer, isn't whether the problem was or could readily be solved as much as sggatecl's claim that Guliani worked against the efforts to improve things. I'll confess, I saw "Political Action Committee" and didn't watch the video though.

It didn't take 7 years to upgrade. It took 7 years for his sorry ass to approve an upgrade. And then when he chooses his upgrade, he does a shitty no bid contract (Didn't listen to options, it was Motorola or bust) on radios that were never field tested. So not only does he take forever to approve/choose a new system, he had them implemented with no testing or pilot program.

So yeah, that fucker is very much to blame.

Was it the Mayor or FDNY that was responsible for the radios they used?

I understand that he is the mayor...but it sounds like FDNY management made the decisions.

Do you not think spending $33mm on a new system, or not rushing out and spending another $33mm when the last $33mm appears to have been wasted at least calls those claims into question

I'm admitting I don't know enough to judge. Just saying it's a matter of effort, not results.

I don't know where you get that it sounds like FDNY management made the decisions, but it's very much in the mayor's hands. FDNY doesn't set their own budget or programs, if they did it wouldn't have taken 7 years to get new radios. It all needs approval at the top. Guiliani pushed a shady deal through with Motorola without having knowledge of what he was buying.

Articles on the radios and RG's denials he did anything wrong.

Rudy's 5 big lies
Sounds like Rudy is a tad fuzy on the facts. Or should I say he is a revisionist of the facts. He has done more then just fuck up the lack of decent Radio's. Talk about a bad mayor. Wow.

I'm guessing as per usual, capital expenditures that large have to receive approval from the head office (here it would be the mayor). the fire chief/superintendant probably controls a budget for smaller stuff (helmets, hoses, diesel fuel, etc) but $33MM for new radios would be a budget-busting line item that would need an additional allocation. and there would - or should - be a paper trail documenting the requests/denials.

I'll have to check these out! I know he's been full of shit for a while now, with he and his police chief taking credit for the drop in crime, even though every major city experienced that in the '90's and they didn't do anything different.

So, as it turns out our resident libtard is blowing his top over a heavily edited hit job headline. Turns out that quote requires a little bit of context. He either read a headline and lost his shit without questioning it or intentionally posted the truncated version of Giuliani's quote hoping nobody would fact check him.

Michturd exposed again as nothing more than a hateful leftist douche - complete hack.

Wow. I figured it had to be something like this, but I didn't think it would be that obviously twisted out of context.

yeah, I figured something was a bit off but didn't get around to fact checking it until today - been a bit busy with a home renovation project that's been taking up most of my free time.

Edit: forgot to add I'm not expecting a retraction or an admission of the error by turd - I expect he'll either go silent on it, double down on it or say that it doesn't matter that he makes up or buys into made up lies because it doesn't change the fact that he thinks Rudy is a horrible human being.

I was thinking it was more like Guliani being in some habit of blaming 9/11 on Clinton and everything else on Obama and over the course of a decade, that argument getting made progressively more and more briefly with his mind more and more on auto pilot to the point where he just excluded key parts altogether. But no, this was just twisted out of context. I'm going to assume that it was inadvertent. Party 1 edits the quote, party 2 suggests that he forgot the thing that he was talking about immediately before the edit, parties 3-1,000 quote party 2.
