Russian woman arrested in Washington, accused of acting as Russian government agent

Man, Russians are so nefarious.

They're always up to no good.

Just look at 'em.

Personally, I'm Glad xenophobia, paranoia, and hysteria are all increasing in America right now. Nothing bad can come from extreme levels of those things.

Big difference between Russians and Putin that we generally ignore here because our meaning is usually understood. We say Russians, but we're talking about the guy who's been in charge of Russia for around 20 years using authoritarian methods empowering and destroying oligarchs as he sees fit. You don't have to be an extremist to believe that the American government should work to lessen the power and influence of such people (even if we sometimes do the opposite.)

I'm glad Gulo has organized his neighborhood watch to keep on the lookout for Russians.

report anybody seen driving a лада or a газ. or any retro Soviet teenagers in a запорожец.

Suburban North Carolina is safe from the threat, at least.

Who knows what these Russians have planned. whatever it is, it's probably not good

Calling the Texan chapter to keep an eye on you and your probable Russian spy spouse

you're stupid.

I know you are, but what am I. That's as old as the crust in your underwear.

Interjecting stupidity is way of life for you. No one expected you to stop, but I can still call you out on it when I am in town.

What am I missing here?

It seems to me that if anyone is reacting to Russia with paranoia and hysteria, it's more Trump's critics and rivals than his supporters.

Also I thought xenophobia was about Mexicans and other Latinos, not Russians.

What am I missing here? Why are all these female Russian spies (Anna Chapman, Maria Butina) redheads? I don't recall, did Kerry Russell ever wear a red wig in The Americans? She'd probably look pretty hot as a redhead since she's pretty hot.

Did the Russkies (can we still call them that or is that not PC?) spy research people get our demographic data confused w/ Scotland's or Ireland's? Every fake redhead I see, I'm gonna be wondering "possible Russian spy?" My sister dyes her hair red, should I call the State Department on her?

No don't do it, they may bust down her door and throw her in solitary confinement, and in a for profit prison no less.

:*)

Keri Russell has always looked like a redhead to me.

The promos for The Americans always looked good. Never watched it. I don?t like to watch stuff that I pick up in the middle. I may binge watch it.

You probably know in your heart whether your sister is a Russian spy or not. For anybody else, if you see something say something applies I guess.

As a natural ginger myself, I should turn her in for impersonating a ginger - I have less tolerance for fake gingers than I do for fake news, particularly now that I'm aware of the likelihood that they're a commie spy.

Definitely put The Americans on your short list - it's a good show.

In the movie Red Sparrow Dominika Egorova, played by Jennifer Lawrence is sometimes a red head, but she changes her look and front identities often because, you know, she's a Russian spy, and shit.

She never gets anywhere near as far west as the United States. The primary location of the film is Budapest, although that was changed from Helsinki in the novel; I think she might have gone to London for a short, short time, but I don't quite remember. I have read that the film was filmed partly in London.

There are two subsequent novels featuring Dominika and her continuation of her career as a Russian spy.

I can't tell from any of the plot synopses on line as to whether she actually gets the United States herself or not in those novels.

This rings a bell...something about the gay community considering Kerry Russell's hair to be a national treasure. Probably something Billy Eichner said.

Anyway, The Americans was a good show. Staying vague to avoid spoilers, in the final season, I thought they didn't screw up a lot of things that I was worried they would screw up.

I know it's unlikely that SNL would spend time doing what amounts to a promo for a show that's over, but I'd love to see those character work with Baldwin's Trump.

In the third Red Sparrow novel, The Kremlin?s Candidate, Putin and that Jennifer Lawrence character conspire to rig the US elections in favor of a candidate favorable to Russia.

I havent watched the final season yet but I've enjoyed the series to that point. Just finished "Patriot" on Amazon Prime which I highly recommend - a dark comedy about a rogue US intelligence official (i assume CIA but o don't think they actually say at any point) who tries to influence the Iranian election in 2012.

I've also started "Godless" on Netflix. Only half way thru the 2nd episode but so far its promising.

Occasionally, you see someone claiming the entire Mueller investigation is invalid because it's based on a flawed FISA warrant. The NRA/Butina/Torshin part of this pre-dates the Mueller investigation
https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/national/national-security/article215565240.html
The inquiry into possible Russian attempts to infiltrate and influence the NRA began before Special Counsel Robert Mueller?s investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 elections and even before Trump?s inauguration, said two sources who spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter is confidential. While it has overlapped with Mueller?s inquiry, the NRA investigation is being overseen by the U.S. attorney?s office for the District of Columbia.
