Interesting...I guess the tie breakers favor the Wings over Ottawa, good to know. Thanks for the update!

Me neither Z.. Just happened to have the radio on although I knew we took the season series with Pittsburgh.. That has to count for something..

What a freaking choke Job by Pittsburgh up 3-0 over Ottawa after one.. Worst possible outcome for us..

Ottawa gets a Ranger team that already clinched the President trophy and probably a lot of back-ups playing.

NHL must be loving how this season is ending.

Wings need 2 more points.

Yup Or I believe 1 Ottawa loss in regulation I think :/

Its probably not coming in Montreal..

Detroit's magic number to clinch a playoff spot is two -- any combination of two points earned by the Red Wings or lost by the Senators over the final two games earns Detroit its 24th consecutive playoff appearance.

Thankfully there are other potential teams that can be knocked out as well. If it came down to just Wings and Ottawa, I'd be more concerned. Having Pitt and Bos in that mix makes me feel slightly better.

I don't think any of us would be surprised at this point if the Wings only managed one more point and missed the playoffs though. How fucking pathetic is that? They can blame it on injuries and whatnot, but IMO Holland is no longer a high quality GM. This team has been barely squeaking into the playoffs for too long. They need someone who can return the team to dominance, and I do not believe Holland has that ability any longer.

Getting rid of Ken Holland would be the dumbest thing this organization could do. About two months ago this team had the best, or close to the best record in hockey. Yeah they are skidding a bit. His ability to find talent and bring them through is unmatched. Who else are they going to get?

Agree by about a 1000 %.

Writing is on the wall. The team is a shell of its championship years and barely able to hold on anymore.

The competition has matched Holland and he is continuing to slip.

Wings still near a 100 points. Still have a shot to get to it..Still manage to get good players, by draft or trade.

And like it was said before..who you going to get that's better? It's like the Pistons and trader Jack. When you got good, keep good.

Wings should have promoted Holland and hired Stevie Y as GM. They missed that window and it is coming back to bite them.

Being a low seed and bounced in R1 is becoming the norm for the Wings. When did they last pose a legit threat? The playoff streak will soon come to an end because Holland is not getting the team roster in place when Dats, Zett, and Kronwall are no longer producing.

Its just my opinion, and maybe Holland will turn it around...but I'm only seeing a decline since last SC. No, I don't expect them to win the cup every year, but the team just feels to me like it is in jeopardy and Holland is no longer able to get it back to its championship ways.

I guess I just don't get upset with the Wings, like I do the Lions, because I saw them get 4 Stanley Cups. That gets you past the occasional playoff drought.

He's 59 years old. You are talking about him as though he is 90.

Yeah, it's a bummer they haven't reached the finals in awhile. But I guarantee 95 percent of the other teams would wish they had Holland running their franchise. Our fan base is so insanely spoiled with the success they've had.

I go back and forth with Kenny. I amazes me how well he drafts but really cant find a lock down goalie.. The wings have always traded for goalies it seems.. I guess Osgood was a draft pick but he left Detroit reinvented himself before he came back.. We need to get freaking bigger.. Kenny finally goes out and gets a big guy Cole at the deadline and the dude freaking gets hurt again.. I mean it is the Wings like Mitch said.. I wish we had hired Yzerman but oh well.. How mad can we really be at how well they have done.. I mean Grand Rapids did win the AHL title 2 years ago and is good again this year so the organization must be doing something right..

That said we seem to be a roster full of midgets that gets pushed around by the bigger teams at times.. PD and HZ along with Kronwell are running on fumes it seems. I do not want to see the streak ended but again I am tired on first or second round exits..
The team just can't seem to stay healthy for a full season together.
