So how do you explain Rove?

could you share some of the stories? crazy political pissing contests are entirely appropriate for a thread about Karlo Rove.

We had a bunch of crazy absentee owners who were renting units out to Section 8 tenents who were fucking up the general areas; and another Section 8 tenent with an ankle thing the cops put on criminals who are under house arrest who was scaring the shit out of the resident owners; and still other Section 8 tenents who were just unsavory characters to be around, as Section 8 type people frequently are.

We had a resident manager who was also a homeowner that some of the other homeowners were convinced, for whatever reason, was getting kickbacks by our vendors - so I said to them, "look, if you want us to look into hiring different vendors, bring us a list of recomendations and we can look into changing" - now, nobody wanted to be bothered to do that; people just like to bitch.

Those were probably the two most glaring issues; obviously there were the petty vendettas that Vic mentioned that are probably universal regarding condo associations.

There were a lot of quite vitriolic board meetings regarding these situations.

I brought the LAPD in to help us set up a neighborhood watch, and I persuaded the guy who was renting the unit to the guy with the ankle bracelet that it would be in his best interest to evict that fucker.

The whole premise of the "right media" took years to sell and may have run its course. When Jon Stewart - a comedian - is more intelligent than your contributors and when you spend 30 seconds at the end of every show, acknowledging the ERRORS during the broadcast, you're dealing with idiots.

...

that is a good point. Stewart using the The Daily Show to attack the right wing media (as the corporate media often is in general...), and I think to a greater extent, Colbert mocking the entire ego-driven-news-show like the O'Reilly Factor really hurt Fox's brand.

there's a Jon Lennon quote about humor and satire being the best weapons against the powerful, because they are the two things the powerful cannot do.

Colbert Report was basically a bazooka aimed at Fox News

I wonder if the Republican shift to the right wasn't driven by any set of diabolical puppetmasters with some grand vision...but maybe there are puppetmasters that just like to wager on what's possible.

This might explain Sarah Palin.

meh. I think the ones that honestly believe in the nonsense spewed may be like that. but I think the ones that are political insiders in DC - regardless of affiliation - wanted Obama as president, for a variety of reasons. McCain was already behind... giving him Palin as a running-mate was like handing a guy jumping out of a plane an anchor instead of a parachute.
