Stafford isn't the answer...

The more and more I see it, the more and more I believe that Matthew Stafford just isn't our solution at quarterback. Don't get me wrong, he has physical tools and looks amazing at times, but with this passing attack anybody halfway decent can look solid. The kid just doesn't have the smarts of a franchise quarterback. I'm not saying it is impossible for him to change that yet, but I just don't see it.

What do you guys think?

To be honest I'm not sure right now. It turns out he was playing with a fracture in his hand against the Bears, but I just don't know.

i say give him TIME man, he hasn't had much out there on the football field. he kind of played like a rookie today......which is to be expected at certain points. ALTHOUGH, the major problem i see with stafford is this extreme inability for him to stay healthy, as he is now injured ONCE AGAIN......

Stafford is essentially a sophomore @ QB, but I have a bad feeling though, that the results of this game might have been a bit different had Schwartz played Matt's backup, Hill instead, but hey...I am just an "armchair" HC, WTF do I know?

Maybe Hill is just window dressing on the team this season, b/c OBVIOUSLY there was no need whatsoever to let him have any game reps late in what quickly became a lost cause in the 3rd quarter, b/c maybe, just maybe the Lions would again have mounted yet another surprise comeback on the road, and Schwartz would look like a genius instead of a total fucking dumbass for possibly and indirectly causing Matt to get himself hurt even worse...yanno?

jesus christ some of you fans are honestly ridiculous.. one week we're this years super bowl champs.. the next week this?!?!

he had one poor game... and now you want to get rid of him? he's played just over one years worth of games. he's 23, and going into this week was the 4th best passer in the fucking league... RE. LAX.

lol wow. i didn't think anyone would go this far....yet. worst game of the season and probably of his career after having a 4-1 TD-INT ratio in the first 8 games. give the kid a break.

Say what! if that's true then he shouldn't of been out there today

Staff's performance has been overrated all season.

Dude has been average at best and has been bailed out by Calvin all season. Only had a couple games where he looked awesome.

What I'm noticing from him is a lack of composure

Can't wait to hear the radio tomorrow.

I bet the same loudmouth clueless Lions fans that were whining about Stafford not getting enough top 5 QB love a few weeks ago will be calling for his head after today.

Fuck he threw it 63 times. Hard to have a great day down 3 scores out of the gate in the 1st qtr.

First of all, I've never said anything to the sort that we will win the Super Bowl, let alone make the playoffs - so don't put words in my mouth. Putting up stats is nice, but his decision making has been horrid at times. Hell, I said in a preseason thread that he would put up stats, big numbers too. Stats don't equal wins (unless you are Aaron Rodgers these days). Take away Calvin Johnson - and it is unfair to in some regards, but I will anyways - and he has a 9:8 TD to INT rate with about 1700 yards. If Calvin were to get hurt, I would expect numbers that would be only slightly better than this. I'm hoping it is just that lack of experience getting to him still, but time will tell. Like I said - the physical tools are there, but his head needs work. There is good and bad with no in between from him.

Am I giving up on him? Not until I see what kind of progression he makes from here in the next year or two. Will I eat crow if he gets us somewhere significant in the near future? Sure.

If you take a productive receiver away from any QB then their stats will go down, its called the law of averages.

I maybe wrong about this but it seems in the last few weeks, he has been throwing more from his back foot, instead of setting himself and then throwing off his front. That and this side arm thing is almost like every throw now. That showed up about 4 weeks ago and now he does it all the time.
I just don't think he has been comfortable in the pocket recently. Stafford can't keep throwing the ball while backing up when he can set himself. He needs to set himself to make more accurate throws.
I think he is the answer to our q.b. in the long run. It's only the third year in the league and the guy is close to having only one full season under his belt. Let him mature.

Lmao. He's no Tebow but come on. Some of you are ridiculous . Please, do us all a favor -- and be a Vikings fan.

I couldn't figure out why Stafford was wearing a glove on his throwing hand b/c I don't recall reading anything about him injuring his finger during the second quarter of the game vs the Broncos, prior to the start of the game.

???

Why it wasn't revealed during the bye week is a mystery to me, but I was guessing during the game that he might have gashed his hand and there was a bandage of some kind underneath, or his hands were cold, he jammed his thumb?? whatever.

::)

Why would you replace a QB because of that. If he was hurt, hand all jacked up, I want him in there. QB play with busted up ribs, messed up fingers so Staff can pay with a fracture. Its football.
