Stafford isn't the answer...

Mitch[/color]]Why would you replace a QB because of that. If he was hurt, hand all jacked up, I want him in there. QB play with busted up ribs, messed up fingers so Staff can pay with a fracture. Its football.

Apparently he can't haha

Oh and by the way, Happy Birthday Mitch.

Monster M.D.,

Can you create a mandatory IQ test before you allow anyone to post on here?

This is my 2nd request.

The more and more I see it, the more and more I believe that Matthew Stafford just isn't our solution at quarterback. Don't get me wrong, he has physical tools and looks amazing at times, but with this passing attack anybody halfway decent can look solid. The kid just doesn't have the smarts of a franchise quarterback. I'm not saying it is impossible for him to change that yet, but I just don't see it.

What do you guys think?

This is what i think. Everytime Stafford has a "bad" game or doesn't throw for 5 TD's, the trolls come out from underneath their fn rocks and attack the kid. Shut the fuck up and realize he's our QB for a long time.

Say what! if that's true then he shouldn't of been out there today

I couldn't figure out why Stafford was wearing a glove on his throwing hand b/c I don't recall reading anything about him injuring his finger during the second quarter of the game vs the Broncos, prior to the start of the game.

???

Why it wasn't revealed during the bye week is a mystery to me, but I was guessing during the game that he might have gashed his hand and there was a bandage of some kind underneath, or his hands were cold, he jammed his thumb?? whatever.

::)

He was on the injury report all week with the finger issue. He indeed broke the finger against Denver but has stated the finger is fractured but fine and not the reason he wore the gloves this week and that it was only for the wind gust to try and get a little more grip.

Although it may not have had anything to do with it, somebody should have told OJ to lose the gloves.

Do some of you realize how much damage you would do by constantly switching out QB's every time someone has a bad game? Brady had a 4 int game this year and for the brief time I watched the game yesterday I watched him make 2 awful throws that were dropped by the defender instead of picked. All QB's have poor games.

Now there should be some concern with Staff...the throwing off the back foot, the increase in side armed throws but let's get something straight...he's not going anywhere.

Internet message boards just breed overeaction. Do you guys live your real lives the same way? When you played sports and had a poor game did you try and have your coach replace you for the rest of the season?

One bad game. Hit the panic button. I thought us Lions fans were beyond this? Won't be long before people will be pulling out the paper bags again...yeesh...

Look up other Qbs around his age and compare stats. Sure calvin helps, but stafford is still a solid qb for his age.

Cam Newton laid an egg yesterday, too. No-one is saying HIS first 7 games were a fluke. The natural inclination is that it is the Lions so it's bound to go kablooey. This attitude needs to stop someday...

He didnt cost us the game. The offense as a whole gave that game away. On his first 7 passes he completed 6 and was moving the ball effectively. CJ gave up a fumble and then Burlesson had a fumble. That set us back 10 points off of jump street. The defense played well for the most part. After that the offense tried to press to much which lead to Stafford trying to make something happen which led to interceptions. Seriously watch the game and stop overreacting after every little thing. Yea i was pissed on sunday too, but its one game and we are still 6-3. If they fall apart the rest of this season then we can bitch all offseason but dont let 1 bad game let you forget about how well this team has played.

Stafford had 2 pick sixes to start the third 1/4 and 4 ints total. The offesne stalled deep in bears territory which resulted in 2 very short FGs. If you can't put most of the blame on Stafford for this one I don't know what he would have to do to deserve it.

The loss was a collective effort by the offense. Those two early fumbles were definitely big. The pick 6's were a big deal as well. On a day when we were doing an impressive job at stopping Forte it was upsetting. I think that the wind and jacked up finger played a larger role in those picks though. When you talk about those two factors along with starting the game off in the hole, I think we should probably let the performance go and move on. Even if Stafford did not have a bad finger and crazy wind I would continue to stand by him for the long run right now. He has played extremely well when not injured and overall. Bad games are going to come and go for anybody, but usually QBs who are only 23 are not having as many good games as Stafford has had this season. Simma Down Now!

all true.....but

Stafford didn't fumble twice in the 1st quarter...leading to Bears points , Stafford wasn't out there punting the ball to Hester , Stafford didn't take dumb penaltys on defense that allowed Bears drives to continue or dumbass holding calls or chop blocks putting his offense in 1st and cab ride situations.

there was lots of blame to go around....but Ive moved on.

Carolina Sunday......

The punt that was returned for a TD by Hester was blown coverage in my opinion...Hester took it from one corner of the field to the other side of the field...Coverage did not stay in their "lanes" and just blew that...Not that I agree with kicking to Hester when our starting punter was not out there...Just saying...

It was luck. How many times does a PR botch a kick and the ST over runs the play. Didn't help that it was Hester. I'm surprised more players don't botch kicks on purpose for that very reason.

Ya on the TD return by Hester, the coverage scheme was 9 guys inside the left hash, 1 guy down the middle + the punter deep.

Lose

Especially when the punt doesn't bury Hester deep enough into the sidelines.

Stafford had a bad game, but people all over this thread nailed it. He threw 63 times, he got zero help from his Receivers. He had at least 2 sure TD's dropped in the endzone, and they played behind the entire game because of amazingly sloppy play in the 1st qtr.

Stafford was clearly not accurate, announcers touched on that most of game - Billick was trying to blame the glove he was wearing... probably less about the glove, and more about the fracture - either way, he was clearly suffering from accuracy issues.

He's 23...

His pocket presence is shit right now, but you'd hope that will get better with time - and a new Tackles.

His arm is for real. His accuracy is for real (See the long fade he dropped into Calvin's arms perfectly in stride). The running game wasn't great, but what can you expect with as many times as they run that fucking Shotgun Draw play.

This game was all about quicksand.
