Stafford knows people are talking about him being benched

Hope it inspires him, or breaks him. Either one works for me. I like the fact that he is being put on the spot, and that he knows that he is questioned as the starting quarterback. Honestly, Schwartz is at fault too. No accountability. Hopefully, whatever coach comes here, puts alot more pressure on him to play better, not an ignorant pushover like Schwartz

Considering we have about 75 mil in dead cap tied up with him I hope it doesn't break him.

How a major sports franchise can have an idiot that decides to make matt Stafford one of the highest paid qbs in football baffles me.

When you restructure 50 times it kind of paints you into a corner. See Suh.

yuck...

"He has completed just 51.1 percent of his passes over the past six weeks, which, according to ESPN Stats & Information, is 32nd in the NFL and ahead of only Geno Smith and Terrelle Pryor. He has thrown 12 touchdown passes over the past six weeks, but also a league-high 11 interceptions. So it is of little coincidence the Lions have struggled while Stafford’s season started to crumble. The Lions are 2-4 in the second half and have lost all four of those games after holding leads in the fourth quarter.

And in those losses, Stafford has gone 73-for-151 with six touchdowns and eight interceptions. "

So say im in charge of a major sports franchise. I know I got screwed by an old rookie contract. A contract my qb has never lived up to except maybe 1 year. Do you let the frikken thing run out so you can try to resign him at a reasonable market rate....or do you restructure him knowing you will have to continue to pay him way more than he deserves?

IMO you cant blame the old rookie scales anymore after you decided to restructure this many times....now the blame is on them....they chose to do it. And since its not working now they need to try a new ocord to see if we can get someone here that can fix Stafford...or else we'll be paying for a $94 mil piece of crap.

Who is talking about him being benched? We don't have any other option. We just want him to play better.

Who's not, he's been the worst quarterback in the league over the last eight weeks

He doesn't seem as willing of step up in the pocket as he used to be, and often choosing the progression at the slightest hint of pressure..or it seems that way watching at times. making sure not to get injured again may have something to do with it I can only conclude and wouldn't even be surprised if it's on order from high given the huge investment the franchise as in him

So you want Kellen Moore or backup with no arm playing instead? We certainly wouldn't be better than 7-7.

Not quite, if Stafford plays like shit for any portion of tomorrow's game, then yes. I expect nothing less than 2 wins the next 2 weeks, so the Lions at least put pressure on the Bears and Packers to win out as well. If Staffords not up to it, fuck him

Shaun Hill hasn't played any significant time, aside from a partial game in Tennessee last year, since 2010, so it's hard to tell how good he is these days. He's currently 33.

Idiots are the people saying bench him. Too late for that now. He is the franchise, he's 25 years old, he breaks records, he looks elite at times but he's not winning. Only dummies blame the QB 100% for losses and it's been that way since I can remember. But guys like Staff get paid the big bucks and they need to produce. He hasn't (for the last 5-6 games). But do you bench him, trade him, draft another QB? No, you don't. You stick with him and you gotta start surrounding him with motherfuckers that want to hold onto the football. It's fn ridiculous the amount of games the Lions have lost because of fumbles, dropped passes and overall carelessness of this team. But who gets the blame? The QB .....fn retarded.

Now in no way am I giving a pass to Stafford. He`s been horrific the last 6 games or so but blame need to go around the whole fn team. And this isn`t a Drew Brees-Phillip Rivers type situation where we can sit Stafford. He needs to work on this shit himself.

Not sure anyone is blaming Staff 100%. Just because we criticize him doesn't mean that's all we blame. But when he makes mistakes we mention it. He's been bad these past few games. And the discussion usually starts with LKP saying how awesome he was and none of it is his fault.

I hear a lot about him "not being bothered" by the criticism. That's fine, but then I don't hear a damn thing about him doing anything different to change his shitty boo boo quarterback play. Besides Calvin, it's pretty evident that we need to bring in the best route running receivers that are available, because like tigermud said, he doesn't look comfortable in the pocket at all. Looks to me like he's hoping his first read gets open in a hurry, and if he's under pressure then his next read gets a shitty pass thrown in his direction.

Route runners are important but you still need an accurate QB.

Yep, but if they're not gonna sit him down and actually work on his play (which is all over the place) then that seems to me to be the next best thing.
