Stafford knows people are talking about him being benched

He should have?? Classic...lol

He shouldnt have had around 4-6 drops from his pathetic WRs either

He was better

Rewatch the game. A lot of ill advised throws today...again.

I will give Staff a pass because seriously is it going to make a difference because it's basically in stone he will be the QB next season so we have to deal with it.

It will be nice though to see what he can do with a new HC/OC next season as well as hopefully an improved WR group that isn't leading the league in dropped balls with no deep threats other than CJ. Lions have all the tools just need the right system and a few tweaks here and there. I know a vertical threat WR would be ideal and would only help enhance CJ as well as Bush/Bell outta the backfield.

Stafford has been bad. He can deny using different has anything to do with it, but it does.

When you are the only QB in the league regularly using different throwing motions, it's time to rethink it. Accuracy and success come with repetition. There is a reason baseball pitchers work so hard on mechanics. There is a reason Manning, Rodgers and every other QB use one motion for 99% of their throws.

There have been sons brutal drops, there have also been a number of great catches that should ofbeen incomplete. Start hitting guys in stride and you'll see your drops cut in half. Watching any other game I never see as much stretching, jumping, or diving for balls as I see the lions WR doing.

I mean how many swing passes or screens have we had incomplete or missed out on extra yards on because they had to slow down or adjust to catch the ball.

Just to be clear, I am in no way saying we need to change our QB, but if he wants to be considered an elite QB, he needs to improve. Right now he is in the Cutler/Romo level. However he is currently playing the worst out of the three. He has aways to go if he wants to be talked about in the Top 5.

Staffs problem seems to be that he'll throw a 4-5 yard dump off sidearm, which leads to a poor throw that either falls incomplete with nothing but open space in front of the RB, or it forces the RB to jump and tip it, into the unsuspecting open arms of a DB/LB.

I'm not sure why he thinks that he needs to over complicate the simple passes that every QB in the league completes with high %, but I have to hope that a new coach will focus on correcting this.

I have no problem with some of his other passes. Throwing sidearm sometimes catches the DL off guard when they jump to bat down a pass (as ill advised as it is). I also think that the WR's case of the dropsies also slightly affected Staffs confidence, as well as a few of the just plain dumb luck int's. But that's just me.

Agreed 100%. The screen passes needs to be better. Sidearm down field isn't the reason for picks. Footwork on the 2 overthrows against Ravens and Bears.

Fauria pick he went outside because their was a LB inside. But he went too far outside. Too far right on the curl to Burleson against the Bucs. Too far inside to Pettigrew against the Bucs. Didn't see the safety against the Bucs. Deep bomb short to Calvin in the rain against Pittsburgh after 2 big drops on 1st and 2nd, plus Calvin wasn't in a good position for the jump ball. Calvin fault on last Bucs int.

Tipped ball to Bush against Ravens (will never know if it was a bad throw) and terrible play and behind Durham on the shallow cross with Pettigrew in the same space.

A little short but a great play by Shields in the endzone one on one against Calvin. and didn't see Tramon against Pack. Perry beat Reiff on fumble against Pack. And finally Raiola early snap and Stafford didn't fall on the ball (could have still squirted out in the snow) but Staffor thought he had time to pick the ball up.

Those are the 12 picks and 2 fumbles.

And for those 10 failings on Stafford, I could give you 10 failings from other Lions for other drives. 3rd and 1 stuff late againt Giants and 2 3rd downs sacks against the Giants alone. One costing FG position.

i dont need to rewatch the game. im not saying that he played like Joe Montana but drops killed us again. if Bush or Dickerson make those catches then this conversation never happens and we're in 1st place. Deny it all you want ....

And if he doesn't throw a pick 6 Dickerson never gets a ball thrown his way..

I agree that Stafford really needs to improve his footwork, but I also think by throwing side-arm down the field, it makes his throws float, causing him to overthrow his receivers, like on the game-ending interception against the Ravens last week. It's simple physics: if your hand is on top of the ball, it won't float. It you throw side-arm it probably will float on a long pass.

And you can deny the fact that Staffords play is the reason the Lions are not in the playoffs

One guy is one of the highest players in the league. Some of the other guys are 4th string WR and TE. When playing with players of lesser ability you need to play better. With guys like that you need to throw a more catchable ball, you have to be accurate.

A guy like Durham is not held to the same standard as A guy like Stafford. Were not paying Durham to be an elite WR. We are paying stafford to be an elite QB. Which he has not been.
