Surname? I don't need no stinkin' surname!!

Trump used the song "Rockin' In The Free World" by Neil Young during his candidacy announcement today....completely oblivious to the fact that the lyrics were a slam against Reagan and GHWB....lol!!

He didn't ask for, or get permission to use the song from Young either, and Neil, who is a Bernie Sanders supporter isn't too happy about it...:hehe:

Trump and Fiorina should have declared as independents. They could have had their own ticket as "The Successful Failures"

He should know better. I think there have been a few lawsuits over song use; I remember the Jackson Browne v. McCain... link. He settled for money and an apology.

Hope Neil Young sues the shit out of him.

Trump's net worth is apparently pretty speculative though. A lawsuit might completely derail his campaign!

Republicans aren't left with much music that isn't country or western they can use. Good luck "reaching out to minorities" with Merle Haggard...

What music is left for them to use?

I suppose they can also go with anything in the public domain, at least. Maybe Trump should've opened with a number from one of Vivaldi's string quartets? Fits his "faux classy billionaire" image.

They also have Ted Nugent's catalog to go with. I could see Jeb walking on stage to "Cat Scratch Fever," or "Stranglehold."

and then there's always "Bawitaba"...

could see Carly Fiorina walking on stage to the bone crushing riffs of that song. maybe playing the video in the background. Or maybe Fox can use it as the official song when they host their Republican primary debates. "Debates"

the 2016 Republican Primary has to be the biggest... like THE BIGGEST political clown show ever in the history of a democracy, going back to Athens 400 BC.

Well...there ARE a few rockers who have come out of the rightwing/conservative closet, once their careers went on the wane with age. Perhaps there are others who will never publicly do so, out of their desire not to alienate many of their longtime fans.

Most if not all of the females are likely liberal, such as Linda Ronstadt and Chrissie Hynde, who have been a bit more vocal about their ideology.

Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, Gene Simmons, Joe Perry, Johnny Ramone, members of STYX, Dave Mustaine, are a few who I can recall reading online were conservative, but likely some are more that way fiscally rather than social.

It is difficult for me to understand why anyone who has performed rock music over a long period of time would embrace the rightwing/GOP, when especially back in the 60s-70s, their music was publicly condemned as being the work of the the devil, if not burned by the more radically extreme elements of the rightwing.

What a moron. Neil Young might be the absolute worst pick he could have made in terms of politics. It would be like Clinton picking Ted Nugent.

They've made it impossible for a reasonable person to fit in. It's not left right anymore. It's good cop, bad cop. Do what Wall St wants the way the dems tell you to or you'll have to do it the way the republicans tell you to.

Yeah there are now a dozen declared with possibly ~a half dozen more who could throw their hats into the RNC arena. Many if not most are so similar if not identical in plank-platform that they really should just try to be one another's Veep pick, such as Santorum/Hucklebee, Cruz/Rubio or vice-versa.

I believe in the checks and balances for the three branches of government.

Yeah...both parties are largely beholden to special interests, and lobbyists, but two decisions by the conservative-majority Supreme Court have just worsened the situation. Hobby Lobby and Citizens United. The sitting POTUS gets to pick his or her choice for vacancies, and I do not want to see a Republican/conservative majority in ALL 3 after 2016...no fucking way!!

Roberts seems to be tracking left a little... or at least away from the illogical, and confused reasoning of those decisions and a few more.

he was pulled over by the cops for the first time in his life a couple months ago, and low-and-behold... a couple of the courts latest rulings came down against arbitrary police power.

or work to get Bernie Sanders elected, and support him in office, once the establishment and Wall Street brings the hammer down and scrambles to undermine his administration at every turn.

I've said it before. I'm to a point where I'd look past pretty significant differences in politics if I thought a candidate would just do what he thought was best for the US and not just his big money donors. That extends to your favorite socialist. I really don't have much faith in the republican primary process and if Sanders gets the democrat spot (seems pretty unlikely), I will probably be voting for him.

Chump...err...Trump gets nailed for astroturfing his supporters while announcing his candidacy...:lmao:

"New York-based Extra Mile Casting sent an email last Friday to its client list of background actors, seeking extras to beef up attendance at Trump's event."

"We are looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement," reads the June 12 email, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. "We understand this is not a traditional 'background job,' but we believe acting comes in all forms and this is inclusive of that school of thought"
