Tate a Lion

for me...I only look at guaranteed money. So if youre asking me if id want decker at 14 mil or Tate at 13 mil.....I think id chose the more productive on the outside option....which would be decker. I was totally off all decker trains coming into FA cause I thought hed command a ridiculous contract on the open market. He jumped at a fair deal to go to a horrible team....wtf was he thinking??? Id take Decker at that cost....

You only look at guarantee money yet you'd choose the one who got more? That doesn't make sense..

My point was they are similar deals. Tate got a fair deal. Decker got less than I thought he'd be asking for.

the Wolverine in me is absolutely cringing right now.

first there was Reggie Bush, now Golden Tate ***shivers*** who's next? Terrell Pryor????? *yoga breath, yoga breath, yoga breath*

hope he performs better than Bush has so far, not that Bush was terrible minus the fumbles. as always, i will not be overly hyped nor upset by the signing until they prove themselves in a Lions uniform. every one of us should know anything a player has done in a different uniform means jackshit. in fact, shit is worth more than what they did in a different uniform.

if he gets 75% of the production he did in seattle though, it would be a good signing, so hope is present at least. plus he is young enough to be around a few years if he does well.

the attributes he has are not suddenly going to change though. he'll still have the same (or very similar) speed and strength. he's not going to suddenly get the dropsies because he signed here (best hands in the NFL over the last 3 years). on field production should be taken with a grain of salt based on scheme of prior team vs. new team, as well as majority of teams he played against vs. majority of teams he will play against, but individual attributes won't change a great deal.

also, i'm not quite sure why him playing for ND several years ago would matter now that he's in the NFL... but to each their own...

Very happy with the Tate signing. He's had the best hands in the NFL over the last 3 seasons. He's a huge upgrade over anyone we've lined up across from Calvin.

More than that though, signing Tate gives us flexability in the draft. We aren't locked into a WR in rounds 1 or 2 now. I might be the only fan in the country that thinks Watkins is a little overrated and Mike Evans wasn't worth the 10th pick IMO. It's a deep WR draft and the guy we get in round 2 or 3 will be a better value than any WR at #10 IMO.

I would love to see us trade down and take a TE.
