Team Needs

I agree it's very intriguing. I don't think there is too much risk if you pick quality players. There have been a number of pro-bowl and all-pro caliber linemen in their first year. Warmack wouldn't worry me at all. Jones would benefit from being next to a known teammate. Lewan is as good or better than Backus was coming out, and he turned out fine.

Another option that wouldn't require as difficult of a trade scenario could be Warmack-Jake Matthews-Jones. Matthews is young, and an ideal RT candidate. Rieff-Sims-Jones-Warmack-Matthews could be great. And even if Backus doesn't retire, we can retain him in jumbo packages.

would be nice to trade down if the impact DEs are gone BUT the problem is theres not many players in this draft that teams will be trading up for lol. Weak draft clas as it stands right now and theres not that special QB, WR that people will jump at.

I see two ways to go: take a stud LT then Jones rd 2. That will probably result in the staff getting fired but it will position this team for future success. The other is a DE then S. this will improve the team for next year but might not be the best moves long term as this staff is on its last leg and we might be running a different system when they're gone. A trade back would be great but nothing we can count on.

just draft alabamas entire team. Bama last night probably could have beaten the lions lol. Warmack/Jones dominate Suh and Lacy runs over Delmas all game after tulloch gets eaten up by the rest of the oline. Cj goes for 200 yds but cant catch any touchdown passes cause for some reason Stafford doesnt even look at him once they get into the redzone. Jason hanson makes a career high 7 fgs. Run game is consistent.....consistently bad and we average 3.4 yds per carry. Bama wins 48-21.

Just read Jones has a lisfranc injury with torn ligaments. Not sure how that will affect his draft status but he played with it so it shows toughness.

I'd stay far away if that's the case. Those Lisfranc injuries are tough to get right. I do like the idea of a nasty OG, but we could probably still get a good one in the 2nd and take a stud DE in the 1st instead.

If it's really a lisfranc injury, it could really hurt his stock. Lisfranc injuries can cause nagging pain forever, and possibly permanently reduce athleticism. Obviously Jones is a tough guy, but that's a red flag that should drop him a round.

D-line is so deep this year I'd rather go for a different position in round one. We may very well see guys like Alex Okafor and William Gholston going in the third round. Okafor is a quality pass-rusher, Gholston has freak size and athleticism and is good against the run. If you can get some quality coaching and decent development out of either of those two, they could be monsters. Both are very much the kind of player a team like NY would scoop up later and turn into pro-bowlers.

sure both would be in the KVB mold....a big body that can eat up space and play well vs the run. Problem is we need an impact pass rusher that can get to the QB too....those guys we probably need to get at pick #5....not in the 3rd round. Especially if we dont resign avril.

I hope they do drop, was hoping we'd take a DE, S, then DE again in rd 3.

Great, then we can draft one in the 3rd too. We're probably going to need two DEs anyhow. LOL!

With so many de's climbing the board and gholston's incinsistent motor and poor statistical year......theres a strong possibility he's still avail in the top of the 3rd.

There's a possibility he's there in the 6th. The kid hasn't done squat without a worthy.
