The Discourse - 2019

I quit Twitter and haven't watched a minute of cable/news since the midterms ended.

never been happier ....aside from losing $20B in AUM between September and December. but that has nothing to do with politics ....unless the markets go up, in which case it's because trump is such a savvy businessman.

Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Fuck Trump.

I watched 60 minutes last night because Ally is a total little Betty.

Also it?s not cable news.

I generally don?t watch that anymore either.

Fortunately starting at $150B gives us some room, but yeah ...2019 is off to a rough start with how 2018 closed.

I am at a Hilton Garden Inn this week and driving a Corolla, so living modestly

LOL:
Last week, President Trump asserted that several of his predecessors personally told him they wished they had built a border wall. ?This should have been done by all of the presidents that preceded me,? he said. ?And they all know it. Some of them have told me that we should have done it.? Reporters have reached out to all living former presidents and ascertained that none of them did so.
then this apparently makes that better:
?I know the president has said that that was his impression from previous presidents, previous administrations,? replied Pence. ?I know I?ve seen clips of previous presidents talking about the importance of border security.?

There's been some debate lately over what the TV networks should do with regard to Trump's "Build That Wall" speech. While it's crazy they would not give a sitting president airtime, I think that's the right move here. this shithead has nothing to say.

this is just more smoke and mirrors bullshit to detract attention from the real reason Dems are trying to discredit Trump's immigration stance. You don't have to go back more than 3 years to find quotes from Obama, Schumer, Clinton and other prominent Dems talking about the importance of securing the US-Mexico border - some of them even talking about physical barriers (i.e. a wall). But they don't want to be held accountable to explain why they've suddenly changed their stance on immigration - the mass importation of Democrat votes.

Instead we have to hear about Trump's lies about who was going to pay for the wall or what a prior president told him - they may not have told him they wish they built a wall but every one of them talked about the importance of securing the border. Trump's fibs aren't even close to being on par with lies like "if you like your plan/doctor, you can keep your plan/doctor." Prior to the ACA my all-in cost for healthcare was less than $7k/yr including employer paid insurance premiums. Last year, medical costs for my family were over $12k - no broken bones, accidents, births, out of the ordinary illnesses, everything was basically the same. Our insurance premiums are roughly the same but we now have a massive deductible to cover every year. And my family's experience isn't an outlier.

Lies were told that ended up costing families thousands of dollars every year but we're supposed to be up in arms about Trump stretching the truth about what a previous POTUS said about border security. And the fools buy it hook, line and sinker.

I think Trump needs to be hooked up to a shock collar like Cliff Claven on Cheers.

Every time Trump lies, he gets shocked. He wouldn’t make it through the first five minutes. This whole Wall thing is fucking stupid. Americans are dumb.

Our costs are about the same, a little over $1,000 per month. That doesn't include what the employer pays. My wife just gave me her W2. It says that the cost of employer-sponsored health coverage for 2018 was $21,269. So if I'm reading that correctly, the cost for health insurance for 3 people was over $33K? Or maybe we are paying $12K and the employer $9K??

I now pay 100% of my premiums so I included the portion of coverage from my former employer to make an apples-to-apples comparison of the all-in costs. the insurance costs about the same, but that used to be a great PPO, now all that amount gets is a high deductible plan (something like $6k per person w/ an $8k family max annually). the cost for insurance and copays under my old plan was far less than the cost of insurance and deductibles under the new plan with about the same amount of care needed - less actually, because my old plan costs were pretty stable including years when our kids were born.

I don't know how to interpret what you paid - generally, employer sponsored health insurance is split 80/20 Employer/Employee. Unfortunately I went from 100/0 to 0/100. I have no idea if the $21k is the employer share or the total.

The ACA blows. no question.

Scrap it all.

The ACA and the healthcare issues in America can be put under the "Two parties that agree on everything but abortion" file.

Single payer... universal coverage. now that's where it's at.

It could not be worse than what the current abomination of government subsidized corporate cronyism has wrought, and IF THE LIFE EXPECTANCIES AND PER CAPITA COSTS IN EVERY OTHER GODDAMN 1ST WORLD COUNTRY ARE ANY INDICATION, WILL LIKELY BE A LOT BETTER.

Oh, excuse me. i didn't notice my caps lock was on there. my goodness.

Did anyone watch Trump's stupid ass speech? Man, he is a really dumb motherfucker!

No but the summary/talking points I read makes it sound like he’s telling huge lies and lying and being a liar.

And is a stupid fucking cunt, liar.

Perfect!

If you honestly believe an organized terrorist threat is going to stop trying to enter the country because we built a wall across one border, you are a very stupid person.

Pelosi and Schumer suck too, for many reasons, but here for even going down the path a single step with this "we agree with the president we need to secure our border" bullshit.
