The New Recruiting Thread

Are you certain they were successful in bringing in top talent? Maybe those kids were not evaluated correctly in high school and weren't deserving of their 4 or 5 star rankings. It might not have had anything to do with the coaching.

I mean, it's possible. I just have a hard time believing that we somehow nabbed the most 4 and 5 star busts ever seen. Statistically, they just can't all be busts. Even a low percentage of them turning out the way they should have would have led to some pretty talented teams.

Now, RR's problem was keeping onto the talent. His classes were decimated by transfers. But Hoke kept more players than most teams around the country.

Will some MOD please move this crap out of the recruiting thread to the M&B09 Whiningbaby board.

Thx in advance

No. It's whining. This thread is informational about recruiting news and other quick hits

Put in on the M Board

Really, then why were you putting this on here,

"What was Tamani ranked by Rivals and Scout as a HS recruit? If he was 3*, so what? If he was 4*, that's bad and if he was 5* I think you can say goodbye to Mr Hoke."

Michigan has moved up 22 spots to the #8 recruiting class in 2 weeks. Rashan Gary to Visit June 25th.

Harbaugh is starting to get it done. OL from Wisconsin appears to have NFL written all over him. Balance of CFB power has shifted north from SEC. OSU, MSU and M will all have top 10 classes. PSU won't be far behind.

I didn't hijack the thread, it's just one (OLD) post.

And LOL, the time you took to find it

O Canada! CB from Montreal is the newest commit. Surprising. A blurb from the guys at The Wolverine:

"Montreal (Que.) CAL 2016 cornerback Benjamin St.-Juste is a tall, long-armed cornerback at about 6-3, but he still has the hips to turn and run with receivers - something that's less common in players his height. St.-Juste impressed the U-M position coaches, and had an extended opportunity to work out in front of both of Michigan's defensive backs coaches, and even headman Jim Harbaugh.

St.-Juste might be one of the top players in all the camp when it comes to approaching a Michigan offer."

RR had more than one problem.

I do think it would be reasonable to expect Brady Hoke to get saddled with more than his share of busts, but by all accounts he was a good recruiter, and he wasn't the only one on staff evaluating talent. Though I don't think the problem was his players were busts, it's that he and his staff weren't playing the right guys, and weren't coaching them well. I know it's easy to second guess, and "we aren't in practice" and all that, but one clear example was the way we stuck with Toussaint for so long, squandered other talent on the roster & hindered development.

Interweb grumbling a this morning about a 'big day' today

the MLive guy said this about us: "Elsewhere in recruiting news, Michigan's June recruiting blitz has seen its class grow by 11 members this month alone. The 17-man group now rates at No. 8 overall on 247sports.com's list, and No. 8 overall on Rivals.com's team ranking. Scout.com slots Michigan at No. 12."

that's pretty good. I know it's just recruiting, but I thought we were in a worse situation than that, based on constantly reading about how far behind MSU and Ohio St. we are.

I don't think the Toussaint experiment is as clear as you may think. Look back at the running back rosters between 2011-2013. There was not much to choose from. Vincent Smith, Rawls, Hayes, Green, Smith. In that case, it's just an unfortunately situation where none of those guys really panned out. Probably more to do with the fact that the O-lines were a joke during Hoke's tenure. I don't think one of those guys would have been a breakout star in Toussaint's spot.

Damn I didnt even think of that and I doubt he has either. He said he was going to Michigan till 11pm last night. I wonder who called and what the $ was.

Saw TomVH tweet that he took advice from Mel Farr to go to the best "program"

If you're still changing your mind day to day, maybe you should hold off on making a commitment for a bit.

that's what I've never gotten about the recruiting stuff. these kids announce some sort of press conference and then apparently go back and forth and then decide before their own self-imposed deadline..?
