The official Al Al for closer thread.

Al-Al is being used tenderly. He's often injured and Dombrowski wants to use him slowly initially, plus under less pressure than what the 9th inning generally features.
We will also see Downs and Dotel closing in the next week... bet on it.

Hi Motownwebguy. Right you are.

Scott Boras: Valverde had offers from other teams, signed with Tigers for opportunity and familiarity.

After the start of the season?

ummm...so either Jose was waiting on the Tigers during the preseason, while still hoping to get an invite or a minor league offer, or he had offers already, but did not respond b/c he had his heart set on becoming a Tiger again?

yeah..okay, but methinks that Boras was stretching the facts and the truth just a little "bit"

Boras had other "minor league' offers. It makes sense of both Boras and Valverde to select a team without a current closer and picked to return to the ALCS at-least.

When we add-the-fact that Papa Grande played for the Tigers the past few years, it really was a no-brainer decision.
