CONGRATULATIONS to easye688 for nailing Purdue's 13 on the nose ...and being closest with Overall TP, off by -6. Nod to allshouldbleedblue as well for last week's Purdue game ....that said, on to Illinois.
The post-Zook era in Urbana-Champaign has had its bumps in the road, the most recent being a rather lop-sided loss at the hands of the Wisconsin Badgers which, coincidentally, brought their all-time series record to .500 after years of Illinois staking claim to the upper-hand in that BigTen rivalry.
Illinois comes in to Ann Arbor this weekend with a 2-4 record and an upcoming Bye week. With wins over only WMU & Charleston-Southern, many consider the Fightin' Illini to be in a rebuilding phase despite returning seven starters on Offense, including versatile QB Nathan Scheelhaase. Losing to PSU & Wisconsin by a combined score of 66-21, the Fightin' Beckmans come in to this weekend as 21.5 point underdogs and an Over/Under of 49.5
**** Some books now list UM -24.5
MICHIGAN leads the all-time series against Illinois, having won 68 of the 93 games played, including 8 of the last 10. Take out the Rich Rodriguez era, basketball games played at Michigan Stadium notwithstanding, and its hard to find much recent success for Illinois when playing the Wolverines.
So post your prediction now or later in the week with some supportive analysis, but leave the whoofing and barking for other threads.
