The Official MSU vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread

I think that M should do it every season they play in EL from now on. As if it has an effect on the game outcome, anyway. Having seen the gesture, I question the umbrage taken by Dantonio. He must have parchment paper for skin.

I think he knows what he's doing with his "No Respect" routine. He's a hypocrite if it's not an act, but I think it's an act.

And I don't really know how this plays out. We're familiar with hostility in rivalries. Bursts of anger become the stories that fuel these things. We've seen teams woofing before games, even shoving matches, the tearing down of the banner, "To Hell with Notre Dame", (Weiss's "To Hell with Michigan" was a tribute), Woody going for 2 'cause he couldn't go for 3. But after the game, talking to the press, they only talk about respecting eachother. Except for Dantonio. This crying about respect to the press is unique as far as I'm aware. He's done it when they're losing. He's done it when they're winning. I don't actually think it's good for the rivalry, but Spartans love him for it.

But...I once hit a kid with a rock.

In his head.

Him and his little kid buddies (as I was a little kid) were hassling me in front of the now legendary house I grew up in on Sunset Road in Ann Arbor.

Then they ran away down Sunset, and I picked up a rock (between a rock and a pebble, actually, I guess you could call it a stone) and just hurled it in their direction Down Sunset Road at them.

They were 35 to 45 yards down the street; I thought it was impossible that I would hit any of them with my stone.

But my stone ended up clocking the primary instigator right in his noggin.

I had kinda hurled it high up in the air; so when it clocked him it didn't have the impact of a straight hard shot.

So he ended up not being injured in any way...but he ran home crying, nevertheless.

I would say that the odds of me hitting him would have probably been about one in a million.

EDIT: Now as I'm recalling it...I'm remembering that those little fuckers had started throwing stones at me, right in front of my front door.

So I guess that's how I managed to stay out of trouble.

Don't blame me if I have better aim than you have, beyotch.

Go Blue!

Years ago a skier smacked my wife on her head with his ski pole as he was coming into the lift line at the bottom. I confronted him as this middle aged man passed me and told him to apologize. He sort of ski-shoved past me in line, grumbling something about snowboarders as he passed.

So like a 3rd baseman fielding a bunt with his bare hand and throwing to 1st, I scooped up a handful of snow and flung it sidearmed and drilled the guy smack in the side of his head as he was getting on the chairlift.

Best part ...he waited at the top of the lift for us and when we got off, I went straight to him and made him apologize to my wife.

Which he did.

Punk ass skiers.

We're I Hoke I'd have said something to the effect that: "we were aerating the field. You'd think that MSU people would appreciate that. We are going to do it again in two seasons and every year we play there. By the year 2046, the task should be complete."

In other words: "Bite me, MSU, we don't care if you are offended."

It was Jake Ryan with the spear. Not the worst thing that ever happened, but pretty srupid when you're 3-4.

It's a rivalry, I don't think the spear had as much to do with the animosity as much as the shit talking from UM players, sure both teams talked, but UM did a heck of a lot of talking for a bad team.

MD and MSU are just looking for anything like this to provide more motivation. I'm sure he'll juice this incident for a few years.

You must not be old enough to remember the impotent smack that MSU players blurted out year after year when it was 30-8 Michigan from 1970-2007. It was amusing.

"The spear"? Ha, too funny! IT WAS A TENT STAKE!

Hoke should have been fired for that stake idiocy---if he wasn't already yesterday's fucking news. Still waiting for the midnight press release from DB about this.

Note to Brady: your team is not good enough to pull shit like that. Plus, its so effing corny, bad, and dumb. Good thing Bo is dead, Hoke. You'd stlil be running the stairs tonight if he was still with us.
