The Official NotreDameSux vs ][V][ichigan thread

Even in the third quarter, there was still plenty of time. I didn't think they needed to show urgency when they were marching up and down with the run game. But not scoring on that 70+ yard drive was an absolute killer.

no i think we are right out of the rankings but i don't think nd is top 10 either

but then cfb is weird this year

I think we may still be in the top 25 (barely), and ND will jump way up maybe to 10. But they are not that good. Look at the box score, 8 of 15 3rd down conversions, 299 total yards compared to 239 for ND. Then you come to the 6 frickin turnovers, 5 on Denard. These were unforced despite what the homer announcers say. That is what killed Michigan. It is amazing that Michigan was in this game at all, and shows what a weak team ND is.

And just when I convince myself that I won't hate Borges so much when he finally gets a QB with the set of skills he wants and he is used to, I go back to an unspeakable level of stupidity that leads him to do what he does at times. Would he do the HB pass with Smith if Morris were his QB? Likely not, Morris would have been called on to throw. So why wasn't Denard called on to run?

i know that is why i said nd shouldn't be up
msu will jump us

but they gave us an 11 point drop for losing to bama - i can see us getting another 10 point drop given the ints

Doug Flutie had no trouble scanning a defense. Put DR under center all the time and he can't run the ball except for a QB draw and a scramble after coverage.

Well that was a debacle... Glad i only got to listen to the first half.. But i did get home in time to see DR's fumble to screw up another nice drive. Borges play calling is very suspect... I really hope he improves with his type of guys but i just don't like some of the plays he calls.. You would think DR's would have learned but apparently he just can't learn to correct his flaws throwing the ball.. Loss is all on DR sad to say.. But both the last 2 wins were all his too... So 2-1 is good right?

i am sure denard is really hurting - this time when he takes the loss on himself it is but i am sure his friends on the team will be there for him

o nthe sidelines near the end, i think that was the saddest i have seen him

I have no sympathy for Denard. He played awful and should feel awful. I hope he remembers this and commits to never feeling like this again the rest of this season! He needs to sit down and look at his play in this game. His passing these first three games, especially tonight, has been terrible. Terrible interceptions.

Actually, Flutie did have issues scanning a defense. ESPN Countdown on Sunday morning one week ran a segment on how Wade Phillips and the Bills coaching staff adjusted things for him with rollouts, play action fakes, etc. I'm too young to remember him playing in college, but I'll ask how much bigger players are today vs. in 1984 or whenever it was Flutie won the Heisman.

The only play Denard can't run from under center is the zone read, which seems to be phasing out of the offense anyways.

Denard had a awful day but Al's play calling is below average on critical downs.. Good between the 20's but awful tonight in side the read zone.. Al has to be better then his opponent...

The way UM lost is just so goddam frustrating. In the scheme of things, this loss really doesn't mean a damn thing....a national title wasn't possible after the Alabama game, and this doesn't do anything to the B1G title hopes.

But my goodness, to lose a game like that, I'd almost be as pissed if it were the Spring Game they played this bad.

Okay. Drew Brees has no trouble scanning a defense. My point is that Denard's problems are not sourced from his (lack of) stature.
