I don't think I need to make this an OT thread since traditionally have this every year

BUT

It's over on the Movies board this year, here is the link.

not to be a killjoy, but do we need a new thread, or could we just repost last year's? I don't think any new christmas movies came out. certainly none that could be considered "classics."

My favorite is still Scrooged.

Were we actually on this board at this time last year? Or were we still on that first board we went to after the old board became more robust?

Do me a favor and go to the Movie board and tell us all about Scrooged, and don't be shy about venturing off the Michigan board.

we were already off ESPN for the 2011 season. not sure when we moved the board to this forum from proboards.

Well, it's that time of year...again...any changes?

The link in the OP goes over to the Movie board...

Elf is ok. Not to sit down and watch, but to have on while you do something else.

i heard KAWDUP was a huge fan of that Sound of Music remake. I don't think that's a holiday movie though

The "raindrops on roses" part is...plus, NBC aired it as a holiday season special.
they used that part of the song for the title sequence of the movie version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

as she says "these are a few of my favorite things..." the letters melt off the screen.

Hey, when arenwe going to be more PC and have a favorite Chanukah Movie thread? Mine is...um...uhhhhhh...the ummm....its aaaaaaa....oh I know!

The new one coming out in a few years that Tinsel will now be writing after reading this post!!!! All I ask is a nice size role in it, thanks in advance!!!!!! Maybe the lead antagonist? Or that guys henchman...just not one who gets killed early on or with less than 20 lines and a good amount of time on camera...say at least 30 minutes!

What, I never said the movie would be a big money-maker, it would just be my favorite Chanukah movie. If you prefer a different Chanukah movie, go watch it instead. Lol.

Back on topic, just watched part of White Christmas. Not my favorite, but climbing the list. Oh, right...the thread is in movies section now, my bad.

it is a little surprising there aren't more hannukah movies, given how many Jews work in Hollywood.

Not really.

The Jews who run Hollywood know how to turn a buck.

No goy is gonna pay to see a Hannukkah movie, and no Jew is gonna pay retail to see one, either.

Plus jews in general are such a small part of population, that the mainstream really wouldn't get it
Going back to the $$$

#1 Christmas Vacation
#2 Christmas story
#3 Home alone/ Santa Clause
#4 Polar Express
#5 The Grinch

Elf is great! But once you've seen it a couple times, it is a better "background movie." I remember seeing A Christmas Story in the theater with my Dad and siblings and my Dad laughing so hard, he started coughing. I think the period struck a nerve and reminded him of his elementary days. A Christmas Vacation is classic "vacation," but I don't know if it's a Top 5 Christmas movie ....

Can't say I really like It's a Wonderful Life because it's such a downer movie and I have never really liked the Miracle on **th Street

I would have to say, though not a movie, the claymation Rudolph and Frosty are up there and really bring back memories as I watch them now with my kid.
