Interesting thought indeed.

The Tigers have already completed one major trade this summer, but they may not be done dealing yet. They're interested in Mets outfielder Scott Hairston, Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports (on Twitter).

The Mets would listen to offers for Hairston if rival teams are willing to surrender players who can help in the near future, Joel Sherman reported two days ago. Hairston, 32, has a history of hitting left-handed pitching that no doubt appeals to the Tigers (career .279/.330/.506 line against southpaws). He earns just $1.1MM in 2012 and is enjoying a strong season, with 12 home runs and a .259/.300/.514 batting line.

normally id agree, but in this case he would probably help. its not like we need him to hit in the top half of our lineup (probably), so his low obp wouldnt hurt as much.

looking up his fangraphs numbers, he's been dead average in the field this year (and above avg over his career), has a wOBA of .349 and wRC+ of 122 despite his .300 obp, and crushes lefties to the tune of a .404 wOBA and 160 wRC+. He might not be a great player, but he's a good/decent player and he would definitely be an upgrade over both Boesch and Young. If we can get him cheap, Id be all for it. He fits just about exactly what we need; a RH hitting outfielder with at least average defense who can hit lefties well and platoon with Dirks/possibly Berry/possibly Boesch and Young.

He hits lefties really well...so it would be the end of Mudhen. That in itself would be worth the deal. Against lefties...120 AB, 37 hits (10 doubles and 9 HR's), .308 avg, .341 OBP, .617 SLG and .958 OPS.

In 105 AB's, Miggy has a .939 OPS, .495 SLG and only 2 homers against lefties. I did not realize Miggy has so few homers against lefties.

Evaluating and comparing players with a little over a half of year stats is fruitless. This is how we got guys like Washburn and Huff.
