The Tigers are 5 games behind the Angels for the last wild card spot with 4 teams ahead of us. The Tigers sit just a half game out of last place in the AL Central.

Can the Tigers get a win with Verlander on the mound? Can they score some runs? They have now scored 2 runs or less in 14 of their last 21 games. The Astros have now won 15 of their last 17 games at home. The Tigers have lost 5 of their last 7 games and 12 of their last 17 road games.

Verlander is 1-1 with a 2.67 era in 4 road starts. He has given up 2 earned runs or less on 6 of his 10 starts but the Tigers are just 1-9 when he takes the mound. In his last start he went 6 innings and gave up 4 hits, 2 runs (0 earned) and struck out 7 in a loss to the Red Sox. JV has received just 6 runs of support in his last 5 starts.

McHugh has been the beneficiary of great run support. He?s 9th in the AL in run support with 4.87 runs per game. He is 9-2 with a 4.81 era in 11 home starts and has won his last 5 home starts. Righties are hitting .307 with a .357 obp and a .823 ops. He?s only given up 3 runs in his last 2 starts. He lost to the Tigers back on May 22nd after he threw 7 innings and gave up 9 hits and 3 runs.

Current Tigers are hitting 9 for 24 (.271) with 2 doubles and 1 home run against McHugh. JD is 2 for 2 with a homer, Gose is 2 for 4 and Nick, Rajai, Iggy and McCann are each 1 for 3. The Tigers have now scored 2 runs or less in 14 of their last 21 games

The Astros are hitting 11 for 73 (.151) with 4 doubles and 1 home run against JV. Gomez is 1 for 11, Lowrie is 2 for 11 and Valbuena is 2 for 19 with a homer and 5 rbi?s. Altuve is 2 for 3 and is batting .556 with 7 stolen bases in his last 6 home games against the Tigers.

Tonight?s forecast is expected to be in the 90?s with no chance of rain.

How long has the tigers been, The Tigers are 4.5 or 5 games behind the someone for the last wild card spot with 4 teams ahead of us.

Real simple until you get to .500 U really are not going to get any where. Getting to .500 should be the priority. And the sooner the better. There really no hope till that happens.

Good lord the red soxs scored 22 runs on 26 hits today and routed Felix..that .120 hitter we were all bitching about was 5 for 6 with two home runs and he's up to .250 now! Lol Tigers seem to be really good at waking up struggling offenses and hitters aren't they

They won by 12 too.

Tough season to keep on posting lineups. Kudos, manchild.

Not sure I'll be able to keep it going....not that it matters. I start a new job on Monday. I had been working from home and briefly unemployed as of late. But now I'll be back to the daily grind and won't have as much time. So if you don't see a game thread 15 minutes before game time I probably won't be doing it.

It's pretty shocking actually. We continue to lose games and lose series. We've been the worst team in the AL for months and months but we haven't really sank that far at all. I think the bottom is absolutely about to fall out this week and we'll be fighting to stay out of the cellar of he AL but it amazes me how long we've sat in the same spot with the constant losing.

After 7 innings today, JV has a 0.89 era in his last 4 road starts.

Pretty encouraged by JV lately. Makes me feel a little better going forward.

Knew 1 run wouldn't be holding up, Tigers offense has not been very good lately
