The Tigers are 4 games behind the Angels for the last wild card spot with 4 teams ahead of us.
Can the Tigers win just their second series since the all-star break? The Tigers are 47-25 when they score 3 runs or more, 9-35 when they don?t.
Boyd has a 2.97 era in his 2 Tiger starts. Both starts were against KC. He took the loss and threw 5.1 innings and gave up 9 hits and 3 runs in his last start against them.
Fiers will be making his 3rd start and is still seeking his first win as an Astro since being traded from the Brewers. He was roughed up in his Astros debut against Texas but bounced back nicely against the A?s in his last start. He threw 6.2 innings and gave up 5 hits and 1 run. He faced the Tigers as a member of the Brewers back on May 18th. He got a no decision after he threw 5.2 innings and gave up 6 hits and 2 runs.
Current Tigers are hitting 6 for 22 (.273) with 2 doubles and a triple against Fiers. Miggy is 1 for 3 with a triple, JD is 2 for 3, Gose is 1 for 3 and Rajai and McCann are each 1 for 2. The Tigers have now scored 2 runs or less in 14 of their last 22 games.
The Astros have never faced Boyd. The Astros have hit the most home runs in mlb off of lefties (45) this season but they have hit just .138 against lefties since Aug 3rd.
Today's weather forecast for Houston calls for cloudy skies with temperatures touching 89 degrees around first pitch. There's a 35 percent chance for rain.
