Tigers close to signing Rajai Davis

However, there is one glaring flaw in DD's apparent platoon plan: counting on Dirks to produce better than his career .698 OPS vs righties.

Im still pretty sure LF is going to be mostly a black hole of suck.

his career splits vs RHP are .278/.333/.751

not great but better than .698

Andy Dirks versus RHP

2010 = .317 BAVG .377 OBP .538 SLG .915 OPS 13.2 PA/BB 26.5 PA/HR

2011 = .281 BAVG .327 OBP .458 SLG .785 OPS 18.8 PA/BB 29.2 PA/HR

2012 = .323 BAVG .364 OBP .500 SLG .864 OPS 19.1 PA/BB 48.0 PA/HR

2013 = .260 BAVG .327 OBP .371 SLG .698 OPS 12.0 PA/BB 56.9 PA/HR

Will the real Andy Dirks please come forward.

I do not believe Dirks will be as bad as he was in 2013. However, I doubt he will be as good as 2012. He will probably be right around 2011. In a platoon environment, those numbers are not eye-popping.

In 2012, Dirks had a ridiculous BABIP of .365, so it's going to be hard to match.

The drop in his overall numbers could be expected, though I'm not quite sure why his power dropped so much this past season.

Baseball-Reference I take the raw data and input into an Excel Spreadsheet. I have all the stats ready to auto-compute, including RC, FIP and xFIP. It isn't hard once you know the formulas. It just takes time to input all the data. I usually start once the season is over and sometime complete it before Spring Training, in time to set up any fantasy teams I have. I have on spreadsheet for pitching and one for hitting.

ESPN is good for quick player splits.

Just go to a player's profile page. Go to splits and change the dropdown to the last 3 years.

Fangraphs can be used also, especially when viewing large amount of players at one time.

http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.as...1&ind=0&team=6&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
ah, the spreadsheet would be why i couldnt find it lol. i looked up both the fangraphs and espn 3-year things, but thats only overall stats.

Deal made official, and Tigers DFA Marte to make room for him BECAUSE APPARENTLY WE'RE GOOD ON POSSIBLE BULLPEN ARMS

And the hits keep coming...

Of all the retards stashed on the 40-man roster....why Marte (who actually has an upside)?

only thing i can possibly think of is something related to his recent shoulder surgery.

otherwise, its another derp moment from DD in an offseason full of them so far.

Or because of the shoulder, they are hoping he passes through waivers.

DD does not have a good track record of players "sneaking" through waivers.

Either Steven Moya or Francisco Martinez could easily make it through waivers. I mean, what club would take a chance on either one?

DD has a man-crush on Martinez, otherwise why would he have traded to get him back after trading him away before.
