Tigers close to signing Rajai Davis

What are your thoughts on Lucas Duda?

Mets are looking to trade him and it looks like he's a lefty hitter with good ISO and BB rate.

Not sure what it would take to get him though.

First, Duda is a liability on OF defense, but he isn't much worse than Rajai Davis. He hits righthanders well, but doesn't hit lefties.

4.06 Pitches Per Plate Appearances (well above average of 3.80)

18% First Pitch Swinging, where average is 27%

The Mets are looking for pitching. Personally, I would send them Ray or even Smyly straight up.

Nice, didn't look up some of those extra stats for him. Though I doubt the Tigers make an attempt for him.

I really thought this was a joke until I saw the ticker.. DD do we really need a career
.316 OBP guy for 10 million :/

im trying to find a way to sort stats so i can get his 3-year away splits vs lefties, but i dont know the sites as well. reb?

Dirks verses RHP.
Davis verses LHP.

Davis pinch runs in all games he does not start..lol

Kind of funny at the moment our 4th Outfielder makes more than our starting CF, LF, 3B, SS, C and our entire BP with the exception of Nathan lol.

I guess on the plus side though his speed off the bench will be a really nice addition to have late in games to pinch run for Martinez or Avila late in games.

However, there is one glaring flaw in DD's apparent platoon plan: counting on Dirks to produce better than his career .698 OPS vs righties.

Im still pretty sure LF is going to be mostly a black hole of suck.

Would have been nice to be able to platoon Dirks and Castellanos in LF rather than have Nick locked in for 3rd. Now if he can't hit his weight, we only have Don Kelly as a backup at 3rd.

Wrap your mind around that.

Baseball-Reference I take the raw data and input into an Excel Spreadsheet. I have all the stats ready to auto-compute, including RC, FIP and xFIP. It isn't hard once you know the formulas. It just takes time to input all the data. I usually start once the season is over and sometime complete it before Spring Training, in time to set up any fantasy teams I have. I have on spreadsheet for pitching and one for hitting.

ESPN is good for quick player splits.

Just go to a player's profile page. Go to splits and change the dropdown to the last 3 years.

Fangraphs can be used also, especially when viewing large amount of players at one time.
