Several reports are out there that Tigers are close to signing Lowe after Soria turned down a 3yr offer from the Tigers to sign with the Royals.

Read a story out of Oakland that Tigers are one of a few teams interested in Brett Lawrie as well. Should be an interesting week in Nashville.

Not impressed with Lowe. Lawrie would make sense. Another guy with a low walk rate makes the Tigers the Tigers.

1. Lowe is coming off a "career" year at 32

2. Lowe spent the better part of 2013 and 2014 in the minors, that is how good he was.

Career Away

3.98 xFIP 4.22 ERA 1.44 WHIP .734 OPP OPS 1.96 SO/BB 4.5 BB/G

Last 3 Years Away

2013 = 4.88 ERA 1.50 WHIP .784 OPP OPS 2.30 SO/BB 4.5 BB/G

2014 = 6.94 ERA 2.10 WHIP .838 OPP OPS 1.33 SO/BB 6.9 BB/G

2015 = 1.65 ERA 1.01 WHIP .582 OPP OPS 5.43 SO/BB 1.9 BB/G

Lowe owned a 4.41 ERA and 4.64 FIP in the five seasons prior to 2015. Over half of his career 2.0 fWAR came in 2015, and he had a -11.73 RE24 in his career prior to last season.

Like Alfredo Simon, we are signing someone in their 30's coming off a career year. Not a good sign at all.

Feels like the tigers are scraping the bottom of the barrel already, I'd stay clear of Lawire he's a peddy IMO

Only thing he has going is he's a slightly better defensive player than stone hands.

I get the impression that Avila is just signing a bunch of guys he liked when he scouted them years ago. He's banking hard on improved health and play from all of these guys. If it all works out as he wants, he'll probably look like a genius, but I'm skeptical to say the least.

I guess we should give props to AA for at least trying to fix the pen because I do not think DD was ever this aggressive trying to fix that hot mess know as the Tigers Gas-pen....

Rosenthal is saying it's a 2yr 13m dollar deal.

Total guaranteed salary is now said to be $11 Mil and not $13 Mil.

I am willing to give AA a chance. But he has me really worried with the last two moves he made.

I have a bad feeling we might end up with Lawrie. I would rather keep NC than trade him for Lawrie.
