Tigers announce they've re-signed Ramon Santiago. Two-year deal.

Multiple reports have Tigers re-signing Ramon Santiago to a 2-year deal. Of note, franchise still doesn't think he's an everyday player.

Dombrowski said at start of offseason that he'd be OK with platoon at either 3B/2B, but ideally not both. Still leaves door open for either.

Tigers sign Ramon Santiago to two-year deal. Not clear yet how that impacts leadoff/2B/3B search.

Ramon Santiago is indeed one of the most popular #Tigers players, has a very good relationship with Miguel Cabrera.

there has never been a finer man in the clubhouse, or outside of it, than Ramon Santiago.

This doesn

i like it if he remains a backup. i agree with DD and leyland that he's not suited to being a starter.

I love it, Santiago is one of my favorite Tigers and he really stepped up in some big games last year. Sign another upgrade for the infield and I am fine with our infield especially if a new 2nd baseman can lead off.

Another upgrade? Where have they upgraded?

This just shows how bear the free agent field is at second base second base this year...

the thing im most scared about is that if we dont get a new 2B, we'll be stuck seeing mudhen there again next year...we should avoid that at all costs because he is so bad defensively at 2b.

per Jason Beck on twitter: "Leyland: "Santiago and Ryan Raburn will be playing 2B as the club stands today." Didn't rule out possibility of adding somebody."

i sure hope we friggin add somebody, thats a horrible platoon. one guy can play defense but struggles to have an OBP of .300, the other guy couldnt play defense if we duct taped a soccer net to his back and only hits for half the year.

soccer net to his back, lol

Not too crazy about this, don't love it or hate it. I was hoping for more though, considering we probably won't get anyone else and will be stuck with Mr. 2nd half and Ramon.

thought hed get lured away with an offer to start somewhere. decent utility guy on our team...fills depth atleast for the numerous injuries our team always seems to get.

If that's it and you know they go Inge at 3rd it would completely blow. Same fkn infield, are you kidding me.

Great move signing Santiago....Coco Crisp, Ramirez, Dotel, Buerle, all on their radar.
