Short?s 2nd error of the game. First one cost 3 runs. Another one or to lead off the 7th inning.Challenge should have the runner at second base and get the error off the board.Good thing because second hitter singled with 1 out.. Sigh. Zimmer?s third homer of the year gives Cleveland a 7-5 lead. Shame Tigers blew a 5-2 lead in this game. Castro losses footing and runner is safe at first base. JJ in and runner on first steals second easy off him.first and third. Ramirez steals third. JJ gets the pop out. 2 outs. Very nice JJ blows it by him for the k and the third out.

The contract extension for Detroit Tigers' Jonathan Schoop may also show more influence being demonstrated by A. J. Hinch. Schoop thanked him effusively (and also Scott Coolbaugh), rather than singling out GM Al Avila for praise.

The added benefit of having a great manager and coaches? Players really want to be part of their team. And Tigers are singing their praises daily. After this year, don't be surprised if other players want to come to Detroit if given the opportunity.

Totally Tigers

Signing a 2-2.5 WAR player for 7.5M and it feels like a big deal. Which still somehow makes me sad. Good teams do this stuff in their sleep. Illitch/Avila and Tigers media at Detnews Freep and Mlive there's a parade.

RAPID FIRE ? SPECIAL EDITION.

The Detroit Tigers made a big move last week with the contract extension for Jonathan Schoop. The last one was given to J. D. Martinez over 5 years ago.

So how do our two bloggers interpret this move? What are they seeing that goes beyond the signing of the contract?

Each will share their 6, not the usual 5, biggest takeaways from the move. And, given the significance of this move, they will be expanding their observations to 3 sentences (max) for each takeaway.

The Tigers recent moves have taught me how one should go about growing a team. Wait for someone to go into tank mode and then trade your low level prospects for the the guys that prohibiting the team from tanking. Couldn't we have kept Lugo and that 98 Lb SS around? We could of traded those two and even throw in some of the other pond scum that we acquired in the tear down as "prospects"(wink, wink) and trade them for say Joey Gallo. We get a guy that can hit 50 Hrs with a rifle for an arm and they get some prospects that will only help them do what the GM is trying to do: Tank!

What do you think? Tanks in advance.
