Game Notes

Maybe the Tigers have found something with this new lineup. They've scored 16 runs in the two games since flip-flopping J.D. Martinez and Upton in the lineup. One guy who wouldn't mind the run support is Fulmer, the prized prospect making his first start in the big leagues.

The Tigers today announced that outfielder Cameron Maybin will begin another injury-rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Toledo tonight. Maybin has been sidelined since March 25 with a left wrist fracture. ... Catcher James McCann served as the designated hitter for Toledo on Thursday and went 1-for-6 with an RBI and a walk. In three games with the Mud Hens, McCann is hitting .182 with one RBI and four walks. He has been sidelined since April 12 with a right ankle sprain.

"I've been dreaming of this since I was four years old and playing tee-ball," Fulmer told MLB's official website. "This is the second-best day of my life, besides my wedding -- my wife will enjoy that. No, it's a blessing, and I'm just so happy to finally achieve my goal, and hopefully I can compete well enough to stay up here."

Good start for the Tigers. 3-0. Upton got a hit and didn't K and VMart scores on a sac fly.

Boy, this kid has some great stuff. The movement on the 96mph FB is insane.

Fulmer got some nasty stuff going on out there thus far

Bobby Wilson 0-11 as a tiger, can't really figure why a backup injury replacement carrer .200 hitter should get as many starts as he has, didn't salty just have a day off two days ago.

Victor with a bomb to right that clears that porch overhang

Guy from Florida, no hitter 8.1 and Mattingly took him out. Was at 118 pitches. I think it was his MLB debut.

STREAKS AND STATS:
Miguel Cabrera's home run in the fourth inning was the 412th of his career, which tied him with Alfonso Soriano for 51st in MLB history.

Michael Fulmer is the first Tigers pitcher to win his major league debut since Kyle Ryan, who threw six shutout innings against the Chicago White Sox on August 30, 2014.

Nick Castellanos has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games.

Justin Wilson has recorded 11 consecutive scoreless outings to begin the season. The longest such streak in team history is 13 games, a record held by Fernando Rodney (2006) and Fred Gladding (1967).

Victor Martinez's home run in the eighth inning was his fifth of the season. He did not hit his fifth home run until July 11 last season. Coincidentally, that homer also came against the Twins at Target Field in a game started by Phil Hughes.

The Tigers have scored 25 runs since J.D. Martinez and Justin Upton were swapped in the lineup.
