The only left-handed bat in the Tigers lineup against lefty C.J. Wilson is Prince Fielder, and he’s 3-for-5 against Wilson. Ryan Raburn, 5-for-10 off Wilson, starts in left field. Brennan Boesch, 3-for-6 with two doubles against Wilson, sits in favor of Avisail Garcia. Jhonny Peralta, 2-for-21 off Wilson if you include the postseason, gets the night off. Danny Worth gets his first Tigers start since August 5.
from Jason Beck

Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland said he would pencil Ryan Raburn in left field or at DH tonight, depending on how his right quad felt.
Apparently, it felt pretty good.
Raburn will make his first start in left field for the Tigers since July 29. The start comes a day after Raburn made a pinch-hit appearance against the Angels on Friday night.
As expected, Avisail Garcia was named the starting right fielder in an effort to stack Saturday night's lineup heavy with right-handed hitters with C.J. Wilson slated to start.
Of the nine batters in tonight's lineup, Prince Fielder is the lone left-handed hitter as Gerald Laird spells Alex Avila behind the plate and Omar Infante returns to second base after a day off.
Jhonny Peralta gets a day off and Danny Worth will make his debut at shortstop this season for Detroit. It's his first start at short for the Tigers since Aug. 3, 2010.

We need a win tonight. Looks like the White Sox are going to win today...up 5-1 in the 7th.

Let the line up bitching commence.

uuuuuh, why the fuck is raburn 6th?

*facepalm*

No good reason. Mudhen is 3-6 against Wilson. And the other guys batting behind him are Garcia, Laird and Worth....so basically an unknown, a backup catcher, and someone else who is useless.

Wow is this right? The Tigers last 7 loses have all been by 1 run which includes the last 3 loses by the same 3-2 score? The last time the Tigers lost a game by more than 1 run was aug 19th

Gesssh, can't manufacture runs to save their asses can they. Nope

anyway.. Offense will need to show up tonight their are at least 5 bats in this CA lineup hitting over .300 against JV.

Worth at SS for Tigers because Peralta is 1-16 vs CJ Wilson - "If want (stats) info and don't use it, might as well not have it" - Leyland.

Tigers at 30-36 on road playing like non-contending Bos (31-37), KC (31-38) and Seattle (31-38).

Any word or updates on Miggy and his ankle?, It really looked like that ankle was bothering him quite a bit last night. I was afraid of this, that damn thing is just going to linger and get progressively worse the rest of the way isn't it.

back to 3 mudhens in the lineup, I knew Smoker would do it. what a ass he is, doesn't this dumbfuck know this is a pennant race, you play your best 8 players from here on out... and he can take his little stats book and shove it up his ass.

Haven't seen any story or blip about Cabrera's ankle.

4 backups in one lineup. Interesting...

If we EVER needed Rugburn to get going, it's NOW!!!!

Normally I'd agree but with the offense being so lousy lately maybe he's just trying to try something (anything) different to get it going. I mean sure it could always be worse but then again... could it? This team ave about 2 runs per shit north of 5 ERA guys last couple of weeks. Why the hell not! LOL.

The White Sox didn't play their 8 best players today either. They sat Youk and played a guy with 20 at bats at 3rd and their back up catcher. The Orioles are playing the Yankees for first palce and have 3 guys in their line up tonight who are hitting under .190. Showalter is going to win manager of the year. All managers do this. This is not unique to Leyland at all.

one name.... Ryan Raburn the others I can live with, how many chances is Leyland gonna give him? I mean we peddled Inge cause he wasn't worth a shit, same with Sizemore, can't Leyland see this guy is a cancer in the field or in the dugout.

Raburn hasn't been in the lineup since July 29th. I highly doubt he's a cancer in the clubhouse. Raburn has a history of being good in the second half. It's not like Boesch or anyone else is better.

He's a career .296/346/491/837 hitter in the second half. (641 OPS career 1st half) Including a 967 OPS in 2011, 900 in 2010, 933 in 2009, and 839 in 2007. You got it backwards. He had one season with a bad second half.
