Leyland on Peralta at SS, Kelly in LF: "It's simple: We've gotta try to score." Cited Kelly hitting Gray in Game 2.
looking at splits, Kelly is best against GB pitchers and Dirks best vs. FB pitchers. Gray is a GB pitcher.
Verlander has induced two ground balls each in last 3 starts, and there have been ZERO putouts at 1B when he's been in.
Iglesias has started two of those last 3 JV starts, and there have been two total SS assists in those three games (both after JV left).

we need a new goddamn LF next year. I wanted one last offseason because i KNEW Dirks was going to be like this, but we got burned forcing a role-player into a starting role because ???

Yeah, I don't like it at all. If the idea is to get a better offensive line-up then why not Kelly in CF and sit Ajax? I guess with JV you get more fly balls but I still don't like it.

Not worried at all about Peralta being in. In JV's last 3 starts, there have been TWO plays made by the shortstop. TWO. and still no putouts at 1b. JV is either striking them out or getting them to hit it in the air. We need Peralta's bat far more than Iggy's glove tonight.
